"Imagine" is a song by John Lennon from his 1971 album of the same name. Veronica "Randy" Crawford (born February 18, 1952, Macon, Georgia) is an American jazz and R&B singer. Her only appearance on the Hot 100 chart was in 1979 as a guest vocalist on The Crusaders's top 40 hit "Street Life". RIP Bonnie Pointer (Pointer Sisters) Bonnie Pointer, who became famous as a member of the Pointer Sisters, has died at age 69. A representative said the cause of death was cardiac arrest. “It is with great sadness that I have to announce to the fans of the Pointer Sisters that my sister Bonnie died this morning,” said Anita Pointer of her sister, Patricia, aka Bonnie. “Our family is devastated. On behalf of my siblings and I and the entire Pointer family, we ask for your prayers at this time.” Bonnie was one of the founding members of the group and left in the mid-1970s to pursue a solo career. “Bonnie was my best friend and we talked every day,” Anita said in a statement. “We never had a fight in our life. I already miss her and I will see her again one day.” The family’s youngest sister, June, died in 2006. A few months ago, Bonnie and Anita released a tribute song for June, “Feels Like June.” A spokesperson said it was Bonnie’s final recording. She first saw success in 1981 with her debut single "Kids in America", which reached number two in the UK. In 1983, she received the Brit Award for Best British Female solo artist. In 1986, she had a UK number two hit with a reworked version of the Supremes' song "You Keep Me Hangin' On", which also topped the US Billboard Hot 100 in 1987. Between 1981 and 1996, she had 25 singles reach the Top 50 of the UK singles chart. Her other hits include "Chequered Love" (1981), "You Came" (1988) and "Never Trust a Stranger" (1988). Level 42's first hit was 'Love Games', recorded in 1981 by Level 42 in its original line up with Mark King, Phil and Boon Gould, and Mike Lindup. The single was released three times in the Netherlands and eventually became a bigger hit in Holland than in their home country, the UK. It became 'Alarmschijf' on 31 October 1981 and reached #7 in the Top 40 on 28 November 1981. In the UK the single peaked at #38. 'Love Games' was their first appearance on Toppop on 3 November 1981 in the Toppop studios, Hilversum, The Netherlands. Doe Maar is a Dutch pop group that combined influences from ska, punk and reggae to create their own Nederpop sound. The band originally existed from 1978 to 1984. The success with the predominantly youthful fans and the frenzied public reactions of especially young teenage girls regularly led to comparisons with Beatlemania. From a first reunion in 2000 (with a new album), Doe Maar occasionally meets for concert series (2008, 2012, 2013, 2016–2017, 2018). The first line-up from June 1978 was Ernst Jansz, vocals and keys; Jan Hendriks, guitar; Carel Copier, drums and Piet Dekker, vocals and bass guitar. Joost Belinfante (ex-CCC Inc. and Slumberlandband) temporarily played bass guitar between February and August 1980.
