When you've laid your hands upon me And told me who you are? I thought I was mistaken I thought I heard your words Tell me how do I feel? Tell me now, how do I feel? Those who came before me Lived through their vocations From the past until completion They'll turn away no more And still, I find it so hard To say what I need to say But, I'm quite sure that you'll tell me Just how I should feel today [Instrumental Break] [Verse 2] I see a ship in the harbour I can and shall obey But, if it wasn't for your misfortune I'd be a heavenly person today And I thought I was mistaken And I thought I heard you speak Tell me, how do I feel? Tell me now, how should I feel? Now I stand here waiting [Verse 3] I thought I told you to leave me When I walked down to the beach Tell me how does it feel When your heart grows cold (Grows cold, grows cold, grows cold, grows cold) [Instrumental Outro] #NewOrder #BlueMonday #TopofthePops

Claude Barzotti - Madame - (1983-01-09) • TopPop 03:43
Claude Barzotti - Madame - (1983-01-09) • TopPop
Claude Barzotti, real name: Francesco Barzotti (Châtelineau, July 23, 1953) is a Belgian singer. Although he was born in Belgium, he grew up mainly in Sicily (Villarosa) where he was raised by his grandfather. He was not a good student, only the music lessons interested him. His parents supported him in his interest in music and bought him his first guitar when he was eight years old. His parents emigrated from Belgium to Switzerland, then to Luxembourg and finally settled in Belgium, in Court-Saint-Étienne (Walloon Brabant). At that time, Claude is 18 and goes back to live with his parents. Claude later returned to Italy to start a music career. His big break came when he was discovered by Pierre and Michel Célie who let him record his first album. Claude had every confidence in them and let them decide for themselves about the studio, the lyrics, the songs, etc. 'Madame' was a great success in 1981, selling more than 400,000 copies. The very first version of 'Madame' Barzotti had already released in 1975. But he had his great success in the eighties. He became famous with his success song Le Rital in 1983 (no. 1 in France). He is especially famous in Canada. 'Madame' reached the tipparade in the Netherlands in July 1983. This video was recorded for the tv program 'Zomerhits' of July 30, 1983. The Shorts - Annabelle - (1983) • TopPop
The Shorts was a pop group from the Netherlands consisting of Hans van Vondelen (vocals), Erik de Wildt (keyboard), Hans Stokkermans (bass guitar) and Peter Wezenbeek (drums). The group was formed in 1976, and scored a 1983 international hit with "Comment ça va" produced by Jack Jersey. Last "recorded" appearance is from Sopot Festival 1984. The Dutch song 'Comment ça va' was initially played mainly by pirates, but quickly became a great commercial success. In 1983 it was the best-selling single in the Netherlands. The single was translated into English, Spanish, German and Chinese and released in several countries. In total, more than four million copies were sold. In 1983 The Shorts, Eddy de Heer and Jack de Nijs were awarded the Conamus Export Prize for their international success with Comment ça va. De Bliksemafleiders heetten inmiddels The Shorts. Kajagoogoo - Too Shy • TopPop
Kajagoogoo were a British new wave band, best known for their 1983 hit single "Too Shy", which reached No. 1 in the UK Singles Chart, and the Top 10 in numerous other countries. The band signed with EMI Records in July 1982 after Limahl had met keyboardist Nick Rhodes of the group Duran Duran while working as a waiter at London's Embassy Club. Rhodes proceeded to co-produce the band's first single, "Too Shy" with Duran Duran's EMI producer Colin Thurston. The single was released on 10 January 1983 and topped the UK Singles Chart, having done so before any of Duran Duran's singles (as Rhodes himself has lightheartedly noted). Follow-up singles "Ooh to Be Aah" and "Hang on Now" also both reached the UK Top 20, and the group's debut album 'White Feathers' reached No. 5 in the UK Albums Chart. After being the support act for the Birmingham band Fashion in late 1982, Kajagoogoo embarked on their own headlining White Feathers tour in Spring 1983. R.I.P. Terence Wilson. Co-founder of British reggae band UB40 Terence Wilson has died November 6, 2021, after a short illness. Wilson, whose stage name was Astro, was a member of UB40 for over thirty years. What exactly was wrong with Wilson has not been disclosed. Wilson started at UB40 as a roadie and was allowed to announce the band. He later became the second vocalist behind lead singer Ali Campbell. He also played trumpet and percussion. In 2013, Wilson left the band, which scored hits such as Red Red Wine and Can't Help Falling In Love. He joined the previously disbanded Ali Campbell. Together they formed an offshoot of the band under the name UB40 featuring Ali Campbell and Astro. A new album and a tour were planned for early next year. The original band also still exists. On Twitter, the members offer their condolences to the family of their former bandmate. 'Please Don't Make Me Cry' was UB40's 12th single and became a big hit in Holland (#4 in the Top 40) in 1984. The single, taken from the group's 1983 album 'Labour of Love', was written by Winston Groovy and peaked at number 10 on the singles chart in the UK. The performance on Toppop features both leadsingers and brothers Ali Campbell and Robin Campbell. In January 2008 Ali left the band, later followed by rapper Astro.
