The Cats were a pop group from Volendam. They were one of the most successful bands in the Netherlands from 1968 to 1975. The band’s original line up was Cees Veerman, Piet Veerman, Arnold Mühren, Jaap Schilder, Theo Klouwer and (from 1972 to 1975) Piet Keizer. They developed an original music sound that received the name ‘palingsound’ This style inspired many other Volendam artists, such as Maddog, Left Side, Next One and BZN. 'Nightingale' is a great single by Dutch popgroup George Cash from Amsterdam. The group was founded in 1967 the line-up was singer Todje (Barend van Werven) bass guitarist Paul Janssen drummer Herman van Boeyen and keyboard player Marco Klein. With new singer Johnny Frederiksz the group scored two hits in 1969 and 1970 with 'Nightingale' and 'Thanks For The Love' In 1970 the last George Cash line-up consisted of singer Steve Allet (aka Koen Merkelbach), bass guitarist Roel Smits, guitarist Aad van der Kreeft, drummer Paul Lagaay and organist Hessel de Vries. This very rare tv recording was made by AVRO pop tv program Doebidoe on August 30, 1969 'Nightingale' reached no. 10 in the Dutch Top 40 on September 20, 1969. Danielle Frida Hélène Boccara (29 October 1940 – 1 August 1996) was a French singer of Italian descent and born in Casablanca, who performed and recorded in a number of languages, including French, Spanish, English, Italian, German, Dutch and Russian. Frida won the Eurovision Song Festival in 1969 in Madrid representing France, performing "Un jour, un enfant" (A Day, a Child) with music by Émile Stern and text by Eddy Marnay. Sandra & Andres - Let Us Pray Together (1970) • TopPop
Sandra & Andres was a successful Dutch-Indonesian pop duo consisting of Sandra Reemer and Andres Holten. As a duo they had nearly thirty singles released. In 1967 / 1968, their single "Storybook children" was released on the Philips label and became their first hit. In 1972 they represented the Netherlands at the Eurovision Song Contest with their song "Als het om de liefde gaat". Holten co-wrote the song with Hans van Hemert. This single reached #3 on the Dutch Top 40 on March 18, 1972. Their final single "Oh, Nous Sommes Tres Amoureux" was released in 1975 andreached #4 in the Dutch Nationale hitparade. 'Let us pray together' is their second single, written by Piet Driessen in an arrangement of Dries Scholten. It reached #5 in the Dutch Top 40 on 11 July 1970. Les Poppys - Non, Non, Rien N'a Changé • TopPop
Les Poppys is a French musical group of 17 children founded 1946 in Asnières, France by Jean Amoureux as 'Les Petits Chanteurs d'Asnières' and renamed to Les Poppys in 1970. Francois Bernheim, former singer of the group 'Les Roche-Martin' and artistic director for the record company Barclay, discovered the singers in 1970 and decided to create a group called Les Poppys, named after the word 'Pop Music'. Their most popular chanson was 'Non, non, rien n'a changé. It hit the # 1 spot in the Dutch charts on 4 December 1971 and stayed in the Dutch Top 40 for no less than 24 weeks! In the Dutch 'Daverende Dertig' it was the hit of the year. They performed many times on Dutch TV, in particular in Willem Duys' program and on 'Toppop.
