Seemed so wrong, but now it seems so right What a lady, what a night Oh, I felt a rush Like a rolling bolt of thunder Spinning my head around And takin' my body under (Oh, what a night) Do do do, do do, do do do do (Oh, what a night) Do do do, do do, do do do do (Oh, what a night) Do do do, do do, do do do do (Oh, what a night) Do do do, do do, do do do do... ****************************************************** RHINO is the official YouTube channel of the greatest music catalog in the world. NEW * Hello It's Me - Todd Rundgren {Stereo} 1973 03:58
NEW * Hello It's Me - Todd Rundgren {Stereo} 1973
1973-74......#5 U.S. Billboard Hot 100, #2 U.S. Cash Box Top 100, #17 Canada Original video edited and remastered with HQ stereo sound. "Hello It's Me" is a song written by American musician Todd Rundgren. It was the first song he wrote, and was recorded by his group Nazz as a slow ballad, released as the B-side of the band's first single, "Open My Eyes", in 1968. A mid-tempo version of "Hello It's Me", recorded for Rundgren's 1972 solo album Something/Anything?, was issued as a single in 1973, reaching No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. "Hello It's Me" was the first song written by Todd Rundgren. Written in 1967 as a slow ballad about the breakup of a relationship, it was released in October 1968 as the B-side of his band Nazz's debut single "Open My Eyes", and included on the debut album Nazz (1968). Although released as a B-side, it was picked up in preference to the A-side by Boston radio station WMEX, where it rose to No. 1, and was subsequently picked up by other stations. It entered the Billboard chart in February 1969, peaking at number 71, and re-entered the charts the following January, this time peaking at number 66. In Canada, it ranked number 41 in March 1969, and number 58 in February 1970. Rundgren's songs in this early phase of his career were heavily influenced by the work of Laura Nyro, but in a 2005 interview he revealed that the basic structure of the song was adapted from the introduction of a Jimmy Smith recording: ...the main influence for Hello It's Me was an eight bar intro that Jimmy Smith played on a recording of When Johnny Comes Marching Home. He had this whole sort of block chord thing that he did to set up the intro of the song. I tried to capture those changes, and those changes became what are the changes underneath Hello It's Me. I then had to come up with melody and words, but the changes are actually almost lifted literally from something that was, from Jimmy Smith's standpoint, a throwaway. — Todd Rundgren, puremusic.com Rundgren recorded a more midtempo version of "Hello It's Me" for his 1972 solo album Something/Anything? It was released twice as a single, with the second issue in 1973 becoming Rundgren's only top ten pop hit, reaching No. 5 on the Hot 100. It also reached No. 17 on the Adult Contemporary chart.

The Sweet - Block Buster! (Blockbuster!) • TopPop 03:12
The Sweet - Block Buster! (Blockbuster!) • TopPop
This week is Seventies Week! We will upload 1970's hits only! To highlight the Glamrock of the 1970's we feature this week glamrock band The Sweet. Steve Priest, the bassist who sang in the London glam rock band the Sweet, has died last year, June 5, 2020. Priest joined the Sweet in 1968 and stayed with the group for all of their nine studio albums. They disbanded in 1982. The band was best known for hit singles in the ’70s like “Fox on the Run,” “Love Is Like Oxygen,” and “Little Willy.” “The Ballroom Blitz,” arguably their best known song, begins with singer Brian Connolly asking the question, “Are you ready, Steve?” Priest’s memoir, also called Are You Ready, Steve?, was released in 1994. In the years prior to his death, Priest remained active as a musician, touring the world with his own version of the band called Steve Priest’s Sweet. “He was the best bass player I ever played with,” Andy Scott wrote in a statement. “The noise we made as a band was so powerful. From that moment in the summer of 1970 when set off on our Musical Odyssey the world opened up and the rollercoaster ride started! ... Rest in Peace brother. All my love.” The Sweet (also known as Sweet) are a British bubblegum and glam rock band that rose to worldwide fame in the 1970s. Their best known line-up consisted of lead vocalist Brian Connolly, bass player Steve Priest, guitarist Andy Scott, and drummer Mick Tucker. The group was originally called Sweetshop. The band was formed in London in 1968 and achieved their first hit, "Funny Funny", in 1971 after teaming up with songwriters Nicky Chinn and Mike Chapman and record producer Phil Wainman. During 1971 and 1972, their musical style followed a marked progression from the Archies-like bubblegum style of "Funny Funny" to a Who-influenced hard rock style supplemented by a striking use of high-pitched backing vocals. The band first achieved success in the UK charts, with thirteen Top 20 hits during the 1970s alone, with "Block Buster!" (1973) topping the chart, followed by three consecutive number two hits in "Hell Raiser" (1973), "The Ballroom Blitz" (1973) and "Teenage Rampage" (1974). The band turned to a more hard rock style with their mid-career singles, like 1974's "Turn It Down". "Fox on the Run" (1975) also reached number two on the UK charts. These results were topped in West Germany and other countries on the European mainland. They also achieved success and popularity in the US with the top ten hits "Little Willy", "The Ballroom Blitz", "Fox on the Run" and "Love is Like Oxygen".
