The Southerner | COLORIZED | Western Movie | Drama | Wild West Film | Cowboys
Exclusively Colorized Western Movie: The Southerner - The life of the poor Tucker family, that worked as cotton pluggers and decided to get their own ground, but nature is against them. The Southerner (1945) Director: Jean Renoir Writers: Hugo Butler(adaptation)George Sessions Perry(novel "Hold Autumn In Your Hand")Jean Renoir(screenplay) Stars: Zachary ScottBetty FieldJ. Carrol Naish Genre: Drama | Western Release date: December 22, 1945 (Mexico) Language: English Also known as: Hold Autumn in Your Heart Filming locations: Madera, California, USA Storyline: Sam Tucker, a cotton picker, in search of a better future for his family, decides to grow his own cotton crop. In the first year, the Tuckers battle disease, a flood, and a jealous neighbor. Can they make it as farmers? Written by George S. Davis Reviews: "One of the reviewers here thinks it probably is. I agree. I have only watched it twice in my life and I regret it did not have the same impact on me then as it does now in 2020. It is a film that surpasses the word masterpiece, which even I confess to using perhaps too often. It surpasses this very debatable category by reminding us in powerful cinematic terms of a) what it means to live at subsistence level and b) shows us that giving to others without thought of gain is the most precious action in life. Covid-19 should be reminding us of this, but some individual countries like individual people are deliberately failing in seeing this. Sadly some will see this as being ant-Capitalist. I see it as resisting the best quality that we have within us; the quality of unconditional humanity and world friendship. Renoir shows in image after image how the so-called stronger can help those less fortunate to survive. Zachary Scott, an underrated actor, gives an Oscar winning performance. His acting in this film showed a naturalness that was way ahead of its time. And what is most amazing is his sexual presence, close to the earth itself and to the very core of life. I believed in the sexual love between himself and his wife played by the equally great Betty Field. Henry Fonda, Gary Cooper, Gregory Peck, all favourites of the time would have acted; Zachary Scott just is and it was not until the likes of James Dean would that sort of presence be seen on the screen. I hope that is partly why Renoir considered it to be the best of his American films. Renoir's films flow, very much like the river in this film and in my second preferred film of his ' The River '. Scott and Field have this fluidity and their love of the earth itself and the waters that cover it and nourish it are beautifully conveyed. Watch the unforgiving waters at the end of the film and their reactions to it to see that we should accept all that nature itself gives, and to live within this natural rhythm and to survive." Yuma | CLINT WALKER | Western Movie in Full Length | Indians | Cowboy Movie 01:14:09
Yuma | CLINT WALKER | Western Movie in Full Length | Indians | Cowboy Movie
Full Western Movie: Yuma - Dave Harmon is a United States Marshall, who has been sent by the governor to the territory of Yuma. It seems that the law is not welcomed there; every marshall that's been sent has been chased out. Yuma (1971) Director: Ted Post Writer: Charles A. Wallace (as Charles Wallace) Stars: Clint Walker, Barry Sullivan, Kathryn Hays Genre: Western Country: USA Language: English Release Date: 2 March 1971 (USA) Filming Locations: Sonoran Desert, Arizona, USA Storyline: Dave Harmon is a United States Marshall, who has been sent by the governor to the territory of Yuma. It seems that the law is not welcomed there; every marshall that's been sent has been chased out. But Harmon is a different story, upon arriving, he encounters two drunks and asks them to come with him to cool off, one of them pulls a gun on him and shoots, Harmon with no other choice shoots him. He is told that the man he killed is the brother of Arch King, a powerful man, who adheres to only one law, his. Later that evening someone breaks into the jail and lets the other man out and shoots him with Harmon's gun. It seems that the other man is also King's brother. Most people think that Harmon shot him but a Mexican boy whom Harmon allowed to sleep on the floor of the jail said that it was two men and that one of them's a soldier. Harmon is then visited by King and is told that unless he can prove that he was not the one who killed his brother, King will be back and will deal with him in his own way. Harmon then rides out to the army fort to tell them that one of their soldiers was one of the men who killed his prisoner. It seems that Harmon is not well received by the army, it seems that years ago, his family was killed and he believes that soldiers were involved, so wherever he is assigned, it's always near an army fort or base. Reviews: "The new sheriff comes to town and immediately happens to shoot down a hoodlum who happens to be the brother of the local tycoon on whom the whole town depends for its limited prosperity. This is Tombstone and O.K.Corral settings, and if you expect some gunfire you will not be disappointed. The intrigue is good and interesting, as it accelerates by complications, and you are in for some positive surprises. The most interesting part though is played by the Indians, who appear in two scenes, but that is enough to save the film. They are very convincing in their brevity, and Clint is sometimes reminding of both Henry Fonda and Gregory Peck, which brings back to memory other golden times of the very wild west. Notable is the small part of the lieutenant and quartermaster White, the most sensitive part of the film and in some ways the most decisive, as he is the one who turns the tables. He is played by John Kerr, who excelled in equally sensitive parts in films like "South Pacific" (another lieutenant) and "Tea and Sympathy" with Deborah Kerr, who was not his mother. Ted Post is also notable for his very few films, he was mainly a TV director, also this one was made for TV, but he has two major films to his credits, "Hang Them High" with Clint Eastwood and the tremendously clever thriller "Nightfall" with Robert Mitchum as the police lieutenant. He lived a long life to 95 years." Written by clanciai on IMDb.com. Warning: Spoilers "Parts of this Western are very stereotypical. A loyal, invincible hero without any downsides, a thankful lady, the world is easily distinguishable in good and bad in this film. However, the social relations are depicted in a rather thoughtful way and the plot has enough depth to deliver more than just a series of showdowns in the sunset. Nowadays the look would have probably been chosen a bit more "rough" but still this made for a quite interesting watch. All in all this is not a masterpiece but definitely a film that noone needs to be ashamed of. In terms of the western movies I know, I find it above average and surely worth a watch." Bad Man of Deadwood | COLORIZED | Roy Rogers | Action Western | Wild West
Colorized Western Film starring Roy Rogers: Bad Man of Deadwood - Roy and Gabby have to establish fair business practices in the town of Deadwood, currently dominated by entrepreneurs who scare off potential competitors. Bad Man of Deadwood (1941) Director: Joseph Kane Writer: James R. Webb (original screenplay) Stars: Roy Rogers, George 'Gabby' Hayes, Carol Adams Genre: Action, Music, Romance, Film-Noir Country: USA Language: English Also Known As: O Homem Mau de Deadwood Filming Location: Walker Ranch - 19152 Placerita Canyon Road, Newhall, California, USA Storyline: Deadwood is controlled by Ripper's gang that has rendered the Sheriff and the Judge powerless. When Gabby's medicine show featuring Roy arrives they are quickly run out. They join the Laramie Gap gang that is fighting Ripper and when Gabby's inheritance money is stolen they rob the stage to get it back, Getting the money and the names assigned to it, Roy hopes this evidence will enable the Judge to bring law and order to Deadwood. Written by Maurice VanAuken on IMDb.com Reviews: All you need to know: If you have to pick a single movie to introduce someone to B westerns, Bad Man of Deadwood is a good choice. Bad Man of Deadwood starts off with Roy, Gabby, and the always likable Sally Payne putting on a show with Roy singing a song. They meet the bad guys soon into the story and Roy is shooting it out with the bad guys for the rest of the movie in one gun fight after another. Each shootout fits into the story. Nothing is wasted. Roy Rogers was a big star, and his movies got extra attention. Bad Man of Deadwood has the look of the perfect cowboy movie in the way scenes are set up and edited together. This one never slows down, hits a lull, or has any filler. Renegade Trail | COLORIZED | Free Western Movie | Cowboy Film | English
Colorized Western Movie: Renegade Trail - Hoppy goes to town to help Marshal Windy with some rustlers and winds up helping the widow Joyce when confidence men try to take her herd. Renegade Trail (1939) Director: Lesley Selander Writers: John Rathmell (original screenplay), Harrison Jacobs (additional dialogue), Clarence E. Mulford (characters) Stars: William Boyd, Russell Hayden, George 'Gabby' Hayes Genre: Western Country: United States Language: English Release Date: 25 July 1939 (USA) Filming Location: Hoppy Cabin, Alabama Hills, Lone Pine, California, USA Storyline: Town Marshal "Windy" Halliday sends for his old Bar-20 Ranch friends, "Hopalong" Cassidy and "Lucky" Jenkins, to help fight a gang of outlaws led by "Stiff-Hat" Bailey. Cassidy becomes interested in Mary Joyce, whose ranch is the main target of the Bailey gang. Things are complicated by the fact that Mary's husband, "Rusty" Joslin, and escaped convict, is tied up with the outlaws. Reviews: "Until very recently, I'd seen quite a few B-westerns but never a Hopalong Cassidy film. Well, after trying a few in May, I've now seen almost 60 of the 66 films....which shows I must enjoy them...at least a bit! Fortunately, the original prints were cleaned up and posted to YouTube some time ago...and apart from the Cassidy films, many of the old B-westerns have been trimmed to fit TV time slots. This is not the case with the Cassidy pictures...they are indeed complete. Marshal Windy Halliday (Gabby Hayes) has contacted his old friend Hopalong Cassidy because he need help combating outlaws led by 'Stiff-Hat' Bailey, the local baddie boss-man. Soon after arriving, Hoppy strikes up a friendship with young Joey...and Joey is a really nice kid. As for his mother, she's running a ranch by herself and most folks think she's a widow. However, the truth is that her husband is a crook and has been rotting in prison...and she's lied to Joey...telling him that his father was a good guy. But when this jerk of a father escapes from prison and shows up, he's able to manipulate Joyce into pretending he's her brother. But Hoppy is suspicious...as the guy's story just doesn't make any sense and he knows that Uncle Dan is hiding something. What's next? And, what awful things does 'Uncle Dan' have in store? And, what will Hoppy and his friends do? Like most of the Cassidy films, this one was filmed around Lone Pine, California...an incredibly scenic location filled with gorgeous vistas and Mt. Whitney. It's so beautiful that after seeing a few Cassidy films, I've planned a vacation to the area to see this area where about a thousand different movies were made! So is it any good? Yes. The film has a lot of originality to it, stressed characters over action and it's pretty exciting at times. Also, something unusual about the picture is that there is some singing in it (at about the 40 minute mark) and it's very nice...and naturally NOT done by Hoppy! Overall, another excellent installment but also a sad film as it marks the final appearance by Gabby Hayes in a Cassidy film...and soon the studio would have to find a replacement. They went through several old coot sort of characters until finally sticking with Andy Clyde...the only sidekick of Hoppy's who was about as enjoyable as Hayes." - written by "planktonrules" on IMDb.com Also Known As (AKA): (original title) Renegade Trail Brazil A Sombra do Passado Denmark Med revolver og lasso Finland Karkurin jäljillä Sweden De 100 äventyrens hjälte UK Renegade Trail USA Renegade Trail ✘ Website: https://www.grjngo.com FOLLOW US! ✘ Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/grjngo_westernmovies ✘ Twitter - https://twitter.com/Grjngo_com SUPPORT US! ✘ Membership - https://bit.ly/2V63h4q ✘ Merchandise - https://bit.ly/2FLB0sV MORE WESTERN MOVIES! ► Classics: https://bit.ly/2CBLt8c ► Spaghetti Western: https://bit.ly/2CyCe8I ► All Playlists: https://bit.ly/2EOOfIH #westernmovies #freemovies #westerns COPYRIGHT: All of the films published by us are legally licensed. Gun Duel in Durango | COLORIZED | George Montgomery | Western Movie
Colorized Western Movie: Gun Duel in Durango - Ex-outlaw Will Sabre wants an honest life under the alias Dan Tomlinson but his old gang, under new leader Dunsten, wants him back for a new string of armed robberies. Gun Duel in Durango (1957) Director: Sidney Salkow Writers: Louis Stevens Stars: George Montgomery, Ann Robinson, Steve Brodie Genre: Romance, Western Country: USA Language: English Also Known As: Duel in Durango Release Date: 1 May 1957 (USA) Duration: 70 min Filming Location: Corriganville, Ray Corrigan Ranch, Simi Valley, California, USA Storyline: Dan Tomlinson, aka Will Sabre, head of a gang of outlaws, states his intentions to go straight but is warned by the new gang leader, Dunsten, that he has thirty days to come back to the gang---or else. On his way back to his hometown and girl, Judy, Dan picks up 10-year-old Robbie whose father has been killed. Dan gets a job as a bank teller and suspicion falls on him when a hold-up occurs and he doesn't use his guns. And, Dunsten and his former gang plants evidence to make it appear as if Dan cooperated with them. Dan is accused and now has to find a way to capture Dunsten and his gang, and clear his name. Reviews: "George Montgomery plays Will Sabre--an outlaw. However, he's sick of the life and wants to retire--but his gang vows to kill him if he does. But, they like him so they give him 30 days to change his mind...or else. On his way into town, Sabre happens upon an orphan. Robbie's father is dead and he's stranded along the trail. Sabre feels sorry for him and takes the boy with him into Durango. There he gets a job and tries to make something of himself--renaming himself Dan Tomlinson. But the gang is an ever-present threat. What is he to do? As is the case with all of George Montgomery's westerns I've seen, this is a very very competent and well made lower-budgeted film. Montgomery is excellent as always and they manage to make rather ordinary stuff a bit better than it should be. Well worth seeing. By the way, the trivia section on IMDb is mistaken. It says that the boy Robbie was played by a 20 year-old. Bobby Clark was only 12 or 13 when the film debuted, as he was born in 1944."-Written by MartinHafer on IMDb.com Also Known As (AKA): (original title) Gun Duel in Durango Austria Die Würfel sind gefallen Brazil Bandoleiros de Durango Canada (English title) Gun Duel in Durango Finland Tappajan katumus Greece (transliterated title) Monomahia me ton megalo tigri Italy Duello a Durango Mexico El matón de Durango Portugal Bandoleiros de Durango Romania Duel în Durango Sweden Revolverduell Turkey (Turkish title) Silahşörler Çarpışıyor UK Gun Duel in Durango USA (reissue title) Duel in Durango USA (working title) Last Gun in Durango USA Gun Duel in Durango West Germany Die Würfel sind gefallen ✘ Website: https://www.grjngo.com FOLLOW US! ✘ Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/grjngo_westernmovies ✘ Twitter - https://twitter.com/Grjngo_com SUPPORT US! ✘ Membership - https://bit.ly/2V63h4q ✘ Merchandise - https://bit.ly/2FLB0sV MORE WESTERN MOVIES! ► Classics: https://bit.ly/2CBLt8c ► Spaghetti Western: https://bit.ly/2CyCe8I ► All Playlists: https://bit.ly/2EOOfIH #westernmovies #freemovies #westernmovie COPYRIGHT: All of the films published by us are legally licensed. Showdown at Boot Hill | COLORIZED | Charles Bronson | Best Western | Cowboy Film
Colorized Western Film: Showdown at Boot Hill - A deputy marshal kills a murderer in a town that loved him, and when no one is willing to identify him, he can't collect any reward. Showdown at Boot Hill (1958) Director: Gene Fowler Jr. Writers: Louis Vittes Stars: Charles Bronson, Robert Hutton, John Carradine Genre: Western Country: United States Language: English Also Known As: Shadow of Boot Hill Release Date: 31 January 1958 (USA) Filming Location: USA Storyline: Bounty hunter Luke Welsh arrives looking for a wanted man. When that man draws on him he has to kill him. To collect his reward he needs a statement identifying him. But the man was well liked in town and no one will sign such a statement. When he outdraws another man who thought he was faster, some townsmen decide he should be killed and they organize a mob to go after him. Reviews: "A very young Charles Bronson, one of my always loved actors, in a bounty hunter role in a pure western. It is also his first major role in a movie, until then he had only played minor characters or small roles, often not being even credited. And, he does an excellent job, he is convincing, realistic, credible, natural. The whole movie is actually very believable and realistic, not like thousands of other westerns where we only see shots, beats, salon scenes and horses running all over the place. Or, if we don't see horses, we see cows. Hence the name of cowboy films. It has a simple story, decent, more psychological than free action. There are also some shots, exactly as it should, not exaggerated as in most westerns, well, except for those made by Sergio Leone or John Ford. It is also a sad love story between Bronson and Fintan Meyler, she very convincing too in the role of a salon maid. A movie worth recommending to everyone, not just for Charles Bronson's fans." - written by "RodrigAndrisan" on IMDb.com Also Known As (AKA): (original title) Showdown at Boot Hill Belgium (French title) Confessions d'un tueur Brazil Revolta em Boot Hill Canada (English title) Showdown at Boot Hill Denmark Opgøret ved Boot Hill Greece (transliterated title) Mia aghoni itan i arhi Italy La vera storia di Lucky Welsh Mexico La raya de la muerte Portugal Confronto em Boot Hill Romania Răfuială la Boot Hill Spain (alternative title) La raya de la muerte Sweden (video title) Slutet vid Bootshill UK Showdown at Boot Hill USA (working title) Shadow of a Gunman USA (working title) The Lone Texan USA Showdown at Boot Hill Shadow of Boot Hill ✘ Website: https://www.grjngo.com FOLLOW US! ✘ Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/grjngo_westernmovies ✘ Twitter - https://twitter.com/Grjngo_com SUPPORT US! ✘ Membership - https://bit.ly/2V63h4q ✘ Merchandise - https://bit.ly/2FLB0sV MORE WESTERN MOVIES! ► Classics: https://bit.ly/2CBLt8c ► Spaghetti Western: https://bit.ly/2CyCe8I ► All Playlists: https://bit.ly/2EOOfIH #westernmovies #freemovies #cowboys COPYRIGHT: All of the films published by us are legally licensed. Vengeance Valley | Free Western Movie | Burt Lancaster | Old Wild West Film 01:21:37
Vengeance Valley | Free Western Movie | Burt Lancaster | Old Wild West Film
Classic Western Movie: Vengeance Valley - The sons of a Colorado cattle baron, one biological and the other adopted, resent one another and fight for control of their father's cattle empire. Vengeance Valley (1951) Director: Richard Thorpe Writers: Irving Ravetch (screenplay), Luke Short (based on a novel by) Stars: Burt Lancaster, Robert Walker, Joanne Dru Genre: Western Country: USA Language: English Release Date: 6 February 1951 (USA) Filming Locations: Coal Creek, Colorado, USA Storyline: A cattle baron takes in an orphaned boy and raises him, causing his own son to resent the boy. As they get older the resentment festers into hatred, and eventually the real son frames his stepbrother for fathering an illegitimate child that is actually his, seeing it as an opportunity to get his half-brother out of the way so he can have his father's empire all to himself. Reviews: "Unfortunately, the rest of the cast was weak...wyatt earp (hugh o'brien) is totally at sea as a tough guy brother and john ireland is barely passable as the enraged brother hell bent on getting his sister's child a last name.... robert walker plays a familiar role as the chiseling son, cheating on his wife and his father and step brother but finally gets his reward in the end ... for an opening western role, lancaster makes it work" Written by sandcrab277 on IMDb.com. "Burt Lancaster carries this film that has several adult themes. Good supporting cast and fantastic scenery make it a good watch. Like most Westerns made in the 50s the pace is fast and the 83 minutes fly by." Written by csmith-99615 on IMDb.com. "Watching Burt Lancaster's early efforts (such as "The Rose Tattoo") might make one wonder why he was allowed to continue. Watching his later portrayals, one knows exactly why. Probably his looks, especially his physique, gave him his chance, but Burt Lancaster just got better and better as an actor. "Vengeance Valley" is a good example. He was surrounded by good to very good actors but he didn't have to take second place to any, not even Ray Collins. Since a very large portion of his film roles was in westerns, probably no one should be surprised at how good a cowboy he was, but it is still a pleasurable surprise to see him horseback, in fights, drawing his pistol. He portrays the proper emotions, to the right degree. Besides the excellent Lancaster, every cast member seems perfect. I have to admit I did not recognize Hugh O'Brian behind his whiskers and surly manner -- meaning he was so good, he was submerged in his character. Big studio westerns were often overdone, with too much plot and too little action. "Vengeance Valley," though, shows what those studios could have done, much more often. There are several versions available on YouTube so you can watch it. And I hope you do." Written by morrisonhimself on IMDb.com. Western Movie | Buckskin Frontier | COLORIZED | Full Western Movie | Cowboys | Ranch Film
Colorized Western: Buckskin Frontier - A railroad man and the owner of a freight line battle for control of a crucial mountain pass. Buckskin Frontier (1943) Director: Lesley Selander Writers: Norman Houston (screenplay), Bernard Schubert (additional dialogue), Harry Sinclair Drago (story "Buckskin Empire") Stars: Richard Dix, Jane Wyatt, Albert Dekker Genre: Western Country: United States Language: English Release Date: 14 May 1943 Filming Location: Cache, Oklahoma, USA Storyline: Jeptha Marr has built the town of Pawnee, Kansas, and established a successful freight company. He sees his fortunes at risk due to the encroachment of a new railroad, spearheaded by Stephen Bent. Marr sends his right-hand man Gideon Skene to disrupt Bent's activities. Bent takes an unusual tack in dealing with Marr's opposition: he woos Marr's daughter Vinnie. But the unscrupulous forces of a third opposing figure, the ruthless Champ Clanton, create an uneasy alliance between Bent and Marr. Reviews: "This was rather an anomaly among 'B' Westerns, the nominal bad guy Stephen Bent (Richard Dix) conducted himself rather admirably, while the loyal foreman of the Jeptha Marr Freighting Company, Gideon Skene (Albert Dekker), often looked like a vigilante. The REAL outlaw of course was Champ Clanton, portrayed by the ever capable Victor Jory in all his villainous glory. The story itself was played out rather seamlessly, no mean feat for an oater from the 1940's. So much so, that it's about the only one I've ever rated as high as a 7, and that includes virtually all of the Roy Rogers and Gene Autry flicks. It didn't hurt that there was an intriguing supporting cast that included Lee J. Cobb and Jane Wyatt, which in an unusual casting decision, called for Miss Wyatt, a year older than Cobb, to play his daughter!!! In fact, I'd have to say that Cobb's character here, Jeptha Marr, looked older than a handful of roles he performed up to as much as a decade later. For anyone who gets a kick out of those little nuances that shed light on life in an earlier era, this film offers a few that were pretty interesting. Like when Gideon offers a dollar per man to unload his wagons at Pawnee and there were no shortage of takers. Or how about that conversation between Jane Wyatt's character and Bent on how marvelous it was that trains traveled at the unprecedented speed of twenty five miles per hour?!! Why someday, you would be able to take a train from New York City to San Francisco in less than two weeks! Can you imagine that? Of course, it's always cool to catch Joe Sawyer in one of his tough guy roles, but for a real life tough guy, Max Baer had to be one of the best as a former World's Heavyweight Champ. He's suitably cast here as one of Gideon's good guy sidekicks named 'Tiny', getting to show off some of his dexterity in the fisticuffs department. But the surprise of the picture for me - George Reeves popping up as a railroad surveyor! You just have to love these old Westerns for the actors who turn up before they made it. The only thing I would question regarding the story would be how easily Jeptha Marr became a pro-railroad man at the finale. Not that it couldn't have happened with a little more plot development, but earlier he wanted railroad agent Bent off his land or under it! It works well enough for the story, but just don't think about it too much." - written by "classicsoncall" on IMDb.com Also Known As (AKA): (original title) Buckskin Frontier Belgium (Flemish title) De helse vallei Belgium (French title) La vallée infernale Brazil O Homem Intrépido Brazil (cable TV title) IMPÉRIO DO AÇO Canada (English title) Buckskin Frontier Denmark Jernhesten France La vallée infernale Germany Fracht für Missouri Italy I conquistatori del West Japan (Japanese title) 銃弾 Mexico Camino de hierro Portugal Fronteiras em Chamas Romania Frontiera pielii de căprioară Sweden Västerns pionjärer UK The Iron Road USA (working title) Buckskin Empire USA Buckskin Frontier Venezuela Los conquistadores del oeste ✘ Website: https://www.grjngo.com FOLLOW US! ✘ Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/grjngo_westernmovies ✘ Twitter - https://twitter.com/Grjngo_com SUPPORT US! ✘ Membership - https://bit.ly/2V63h4q ✘ Merchandise - https://bit.ly/2FLB0sV MORE MOVIES! ► Classics: https://bit.ly/2CBLt8c ► Spaghetti Western: https://bit.ly/2CyCe8I ► All Playlists: https://bit.ly/2EOOfIH #westernmovies #freemovies #spaghettiwesterns COPYRIGHT: All of the films published by us are legally licensed. The Sundowners | Western Movie | Robert Preston | Outlaw | Cowboy Movie | English
Exciting family drama about two brothers: The Sundowners - Classic Western - Brother is pitted against brother in this tale of feuding ranchers in the Old West. The Sundowners (1950) Director: George Templeton Writer: Alan Le May (History as a serial novel von Collier's as "Thunder in the Dust") Stars: Robert Preston, Robert Sterling, Chill Wills Genre: Western Country: USA Language: English Also Known As: Die großen Helden des US-Westerns Filming Location: Amarillo, Texas, USA Storyline: A tale of a range war in the Texas Panhandle, in which the "bad" brother villain fights for what is right ... and in whose name he commits murder, while the "good" brother hero sanctions the rusting of wholesale cattle, and in the end reluctantly comes to the realization that he may not be doing the right thing. Written by Les Adams on IMDb.com Reviews: Released in 1950 and directed by George Templeton, "The Sundowners" is a western set in the Texas Panhandle, where honest rancher Tom Cloud (Robert Sterling) and his teenage brother (John Drew Barrymore) have trouble with shady sheriff Elmer Gall (Don Haggerty) and some rustlers. However, when supposed outlaw Kid Wichita (Robert Preston) returns to town, he begins to clean up the area, drawing the ire of the sheriff and the rustlers. Chill Wills plays a friendly neighbor, while John Litel stars as the sheriff's father, who (apparently) knows nothing of his son's questionable activities. Although "The Sundowners" is a bit of an obscure western, it is one of my favorites for its interesting characters, compelling writing, and palpable realism. As for the latter, the film was actually shot in the Texas Panhandle, not Arizona or Southern California like too many old westerns. Someone criticized the film on the grounds that it "had a hard time figuring out who was good and who was bad," which illustrates another element of realism: the characters have shades of gray and are not consistently black or white. Even the main protagonist, Tom Cloud, who embodies wisdom and goodness, shows a careless side that I won't reveal. Of course, the people involved in the cattle rustling ring are definitely shady, albeit secretly. The ringleader's father, however, is not corrupt and did not know what his son was doing, though he may have suspected and turned a blind eye. Kid Wichita, on the other hand, is somewhere between black and white, mainly because of his dubious past and the suspicious way Tom views his return. Wichita amusingly says a few times, "From Amarillo to Gee Whit, no one has proved anything to me - except twice," implying that he has committed at least two actual crimes in the past and apparently more. In the actual events of the film, however, I did not see Wichita do anything wrong. He is merely helping to rid the county of a cattle rustling ring. There are several references to Wichita murdering someone, but he actually caught the person in the act of scheming and didn't shoot until the guy reached for his gun. That's not murder, that's self-defense. The same thing happens in another situation. Personally, I was all for Wichita cleaning up the county of the riffraff. Maybe Wichita deserves death for his past sins, but not for what he does in this movie. RATING: A - Written by Wuchakk on IMDb.com. Colorized Cowboy Film: Fort Courageous - An ex-cavalry sergeant, being escorted to prison after being convicted of a crime he didn't commit, finds himself leading the remnants of a unit that has been under Indian attack at a fort. Fort Courageous (1965) Director: Lesley Selander Writers: Richard H. Landau Stars: Fred Beir, Don 'Red' Barry, Hanna Landy Genres: Action | Western Release date: 1 May 1965 (USA) Country: United States Language: English Also known as: Fuerte valeroso Filming locations: Fredonia, Arizona, USA | Colorado City, Arizona, USA | Kanab, Utah, USA Storyline: An ex-cavalry sergeant, being escorted to prison after being convicted of a crime he didn't commit, finds himself leading the remnants of a unit that has been under Indian attack at a fort. The commanding officer has been killed, the Indians vastly outnumber them, and the only bargaining chip they have is the fact that they have captured the Indian chief's son. Reviews: On his way to the military prison on Alcatraz, wrongly convicted soldier Fred Beir and his transport are attacked by marauding Indians. Barely making it to the fort, Beir and the rest of his men find it the site of a massacre and themselves surrounded. One of the last of the old-fashioned studio B-westerns, this is a stark, grim affair, with some nasty bits of violence and torture, a weird preoccupation with sexual assault(!) and a mean performance by Donald "Red" Barry as the fort's commanding officer and lone survivor. However, it drops the ball in the end, with a hastily tacked-on romance and a conclusion that's abrupt, painfully unrealistic and patently bizarre. Clocking in at a slim seventy-two minutes, there's really no excuse in the world for it to end so abruptly and so unsatisfactory! Still, it's worth watching for the most part. There's some nice black-and-white photography and a grittiness that anticipates the wave of spaghetti westerns and their American counterparts that flooded US theaters the following year and pretty much ended the need for these kind of cheaply made westerns. Buffalo Bill | Free Western Movie | Thomas Mitchell | Old West Film
Old Western Movie: Buffalo Bill - The story of William "Buffalo Bill" Cody, legendary westerner, from his days as an army scout to his later activities as owner of a Wild West show. Buffalo Bill (1944) Director: William A. Wellman Writers: Æneas MacKenzie(screenplay), Clements Ripley(screenplay), Cecile Kramer(screenplay) Stars: Joel McCrea, Maureen O'Hara, Linda Darnell Genre: Western Country: USA Language: English Release Date: 13 April 1944 Filming Locations: House Rock Canyon, Arizona, USA Storyline: "A fictionalized account of the life of William F. "Buffalo Bill" Cody. A hunter and Army Scout in the early part of his life, he rescues a US Senator and his beautiful daughter, Louisa Frederici. Cody is portrayed as someone who admires and respects the Indians and is a good friend of Yellow Hand who will eventually become Chief of the Cheyenne. Everyone else, including the military, politicians and businessmen on the other hand hate the Indians and are perfectly prepared to trample on their lands and destroy their buffalo hunting grounds. He's eventually forced to fight the Cheyenne however. He's also met a writer, Ned Buntline, who writes about Cody's exploits and he becomes a sensation when he travels East. His career is not assured however, particularly when he attacks those in positions of authority over their maltreatment of the Native American population. He eventually establishes his wild west show that becomes an international sensation. Reviews: While as Biography, "Buffalo Bill" is probably as accurate as the depiction of Custer in "They Died With Their boots On", it is still excellent film making and a fine vehicle for stalwart Joel McCrea, who, despite performances in excellent non-westerns such as "Sullivan's Travels" and "Foreign Correspondent" was known primarily as a Cowboy Star. I would also hold this film up as another example, along with John Ford's Cavalry Trilogy, of a film which depicted Native Americans as a noble race, victimized by the march of western civilization, long before the advent of films such as "Little Big Man" or "Dances With Wolves" The White Man is clearly the villain in this and the Ford films. Early on, Cody admonishes a Government representative, telling him that Yellow hand (Anthony Quinn, who also plays Crazy Horse in "They Died With Their boots On") is a Prince of his people, and should be treated as such. Plus, if the reunion at the shooting gallery and the Wild West Show farewell scenes don't put a lump in your throat, better check your pulse." -Written by "amazeika" on IMDb.com Also Known As (AKA): (original title) Buffalo Bill Argentina Buffalo Bill Australia Buffalo Bill Austria Buffalo Bill Belgium (French title) Buffalo Bill Belgium (Flemish title) Buffalo Bill Brazil Buffalo Bill Bulgaria (Bulgarian title) Бъфало Бил Canada (English title) Buffalo Bill Chile Buffalo Bill Denmark Buffalo Bill Finland Buffalo Bill France Buffalo Bill Greece Buffalo Bill Greece I epistrofi tou Buffalo Bill India (English title) Buffalo Bill Ireland (English title) Buffalo Bill Italy Buffalo Bill Japan Seibu no ôja Japan (Japanese title) 西部の王者 Lithuania Bufalo Bilas Mexico Buffalo Bill Netherlands Buffalo Bill Poland Buffalo Bill Portugal Aventuras de Buffalo Bill Romania Buffalo Bill Serbia Bufalo Bil Soviet Union (Russian title) Баффало Билл Spain Las aventuras de Buffalo Bill Sweden Buffalo Bill Turkey (Turkish title) Buffalo Bill UK Buffalo Bill USA Buffalo Bill West Germany Buffalo Bill, der weiße Indianer West Germany Der weiße Indianer ✘ Website: https://www.grjngo.com FOLLOW US! ✘ Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/grjngo_westernmovies ✘ Twitter - https://twitter.com/Grjngo_com SUPPORT US! ✘ Membership - https://bit.ly/2V63h4q ✘ Merchandise - https://bit.ly/2FLB0sV MORE MOVIES! ► Classics: https://bit.ly/2CBLt8c ► Spaghetti Western: https://bit.ly/2CyCe8I ► All Playlists: https://bit.ly/2EOOfIH #westernmovies #freemovies #freewestern COPYRIGHT: All of the films published by us are legally licensed. But one of them, Tim (Gemma), is being chased by a crazed killer and his band of gunmen to settle an old score. The two (Adore being the other) are chased through the west, encountering scrape after scrape until the killers catch up and the score is settled for good. Reviews: "Ah, such beautiful music! This film opens with a classic sequence. A stagecoach is attacked by a gang, with all the passengers brutally massacred. Cue Morricone's haunting soundtrack as the camera focuses on the dead, and in particular the face of a blonde girl. A hand brushes the dust from her face, and the camera pans up to show the sorrowful face of Billy (Giuliano Gemma). A truly moving scene, but made particularly so because of Morricone's music. In a way, this opening sequence is quite out of place with the remainder of the movie. The rest is a light-hearted affair, based around the partnership of Billy and Larry (Mario Adorf). Billy is a smart, world-wise man, whilst Larry is not gifted with the greatest amount of intelligence. This is a perfect foil for Billy, who is a convincing conman and successful in getting the better out of his gullible partner throughout the film (including robbing him of his entire life savings). The action really hots up when the character of Roger Pratt (Federico Boido) is introduced properly (until this stage, he is purely the face of the gang leader from the opening ambush). He is a brutal man, tracking down Billy on behalf of his father Samual Pratt (Anthony Dawson). The second half of the movie concentrates on this pursuit, with Samual also arriving on the scene and proving to be as barbaric as his short-fused offspring. Director Giulio Petroni (of "Death Rides a Horse" fame) adopts a similar style to the one used in his later Milian cast "Life is Tough, Right Providence?". It shares its episodic structure, and "clever man/thick man" partnership. Anyone that has read my other reviews will probably have noticed that I do not generally like the more light-hearted westerns. However, I did very much enjoy most of this particular film (the same could not be said of "Providence" incidentally). A particular highlight of the film is a superb scene as Billy cons his way into the house of a beautiful Widow (played by the frankly gorgeous Magda Konopka). Another very beautiful Spaghetti Western actress, part sorrowful and part sexually teasing." Written by marc-366 on IMDb.com. Life is Tough, Eh Providence - An eccentric bounty hunter named Providence captures and sets free a criminal in order to collect the same bounty over and over again in different states, until they discover that a local sheriff is up to something crooked. Life is Tough, Eh Providence (1972) Director: Giulio Petroni Writers: Perio Regnoli (screenplay) (as Dean Craig), Franco Castellano Stars: Tomas Milian, Gregg Palmer, Janet Agren Country: Italy | France | West Germany Language: Italian | German Release Date: 29 December 1972 (West Germany) Also Known As: Sometimes Life Is Hard - Right, Providence? Storyline: An eccentric bounty hunter named Providence captures and sets free a criminal in order to collect the same bounty over and over again in different states, until they discover that a local sheriff is up to something crooked. Reviews: "This is a very funny Italian western! The characters are very amusing especially Tomas Milian who gives us a beautiful interpretation of a funny sort of bounty killer called "Provvidenza". This movie will make you laugh a lot without be vulgar or foregone. Least but not last the nice soundtrack by Ennio Morricone will remain stamped in your mind!" Written by Dr. Vornoff on IMDb.com ""Death Rides A Horse" director Giulio Petroni's "Life Is Tough, Eh Providence?" is a slapstick Spaghetti western comedy that is nothing like his other westerns. Genre stalwart Tomas Milian plays a mustached bounty hunter named Providence. He wears his derby so low that it crimps his ears with comic results. He speaks with a weird nasal lisp and looks incredibly buffoonish in his suit and tie with gloves. He travels around in a modified Wells Fargo stagecoach. Paunchy American character actor Greg Palmer co-stars with Milian in his silly frontier saga. He plays a thick-headed outlaw called the Hurricane Kid. Six scenarists, including Franco Castellano, Günter Ebert, Antonino Marino, Giuseppe Moccia, Antoinette Pellevant , and Piero Regnoli, along with Petroni himself have fashioned a lowest common denominator comedy not unlike the "Trinity" movies. Palmer makes a perfect Bud Spencer type, while Milian hams it up as an umbrella-toting bounty hunter who wields a derringer with a deadly accurate aim. When they are playing everything for laughs, the filmmakers appropriate the plot from Leone's "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly" as Providence brings Hurricane in for the reward money and then engineers Hurricane's subsequent escape so they can pull the same stunt again. "Life Is Tough, Eh Providence?" appears to have been lensed in Italy rather than Spain since we never see any of those distinctive Spanish mountains. In other words, most everything looks green. Tomas Milian is nothing like you've ever seen him in a Spaghetti western. Incredibly, this unprepossessing oater boasts a musical score performed by Ennio Morricone. There are some interesting gags, especially the game of pool. Difficult as it is to believe this farce actually spawned a sequel the following year entitled "Here We Go Again, Eh Providence?" Milian and Palmer both reprised their roles. Italian tough guy stunt man Giovanni Cianfriglia plays a card-sharp thug who is roundly trounced in that hilarious pool tournament with Providence. Mind you, only fans of the Marx Brothers will appreciate a gag about tw0-third of the way through the film that is a variation on a Frank Tashlin gag from "A Night in Casablanca." Harpo is leaning against a building when a French policeman asks him if he (Harpo) thinks that he is holding up the building. Harpo nods with an impish grin, steps away from the building and the edifice collapses. Hurricane is leaning against a tree when Providence asks him a similar question. Hurricane steps away from the tree and it keels over and hits the ground. Altogether, "Life Is Tough, Eh Providence?" shows not only Tomas Milian in a different light but also director Giulio Petroni in an entirely different light. Jesse James' Women | Classic Western Movie | Full Length | Classic American Cowboy Film | English
Free Western Movie: Jesse James' Women - Cowboy Movie - Jesse James keeps so busy skirt-chasing that his outlaw career starts to suffer. Jesse James' Women (1954) Director: Don 'Red' Barry (as Donald Barry) Writers: D.D. Beauchamp (screenplay), William R. Cox (screenplay) (as William Cox) Stars: Don 'Red' Barry, Peggie Castle, Jack Buetel Genre: Western Runtime: 84 min Country: USA Language: English Release Date: 4 September 1954 (USA) Also Known As: Le amanti di Jesse il bandito Filming Locations: Hattiesburg, Mississippi, USA Storyline: Jesse James leaves Missouri for Mississippi, and immediately charms all the women in Mississippi out of their bloomers and garters. His first conquest is the banker's daughter who helps him loot the bank in exchange for a promise of marriage; he wanders over to the saloon and runs the crooked partner of the proprietress out of town, takes all of his-and-her money and leaves her, between kisses, hounding him for her share; the third one, the saloon singer, actually makes a mark out of him as she cons him into a boxing match against a professional fighter and he loses the fight and his money, but he holds the singer and the fighter up as they leave town and gets his money back; and then he romances and swindles Cattle Kate, a replay of what he had done somewhere before to Kate and the "gotcha-again" Kate even ends up behind bars. Reviews: Warning: Spoilers "Well somewhere, some time, someone must have thought this was a good idea for a Western film treatment. Instead of terrorizing banks and stagecoaches, Jesse James (Don Barry) turns into a Don Juan and uses his dubious charms to romance a passel of gals out of their money. I guess since the title states "Jesses James' Women", there had to be a bunch of them, and so there was. Peggie Castle led the cast here as Golden Bell saloon gal Waco Gans, conducting a reasonable tryout for her 'Lawman' TV series run as Lily Merrill. Castle takes part in two of the picture's highlights - a knock down, drag out catfight with Betty Brueck, and later on an actual gunfight showdown with the same opponent going by Cattle Kate Kennedy. That one was a bit of a let down to my thinking, but still a creative effort on the part of the principals. The other contenders for Jesse James' affection include Lita Baron as saloon singer Delta, and Joyce Barrett as Caprice Clark. Probably outshining them all just by her sheer innocence was the sheriff's daughter Angel, winsomely played by Laura Lea, who managed to get the outlaw Jesse to show his human side. Ironically, they had their final conversation right in front of a wanted Poster offering ten thousand dollars for Jesse and his gang. For a quick change of pace, there's also a nifty boxing sequence in the latter half in which Jesse attempts to pull off a thousand dollar payday against barnstorming boxer Champ O'Toole (Alton Hillman). Not to be outdone by a resounding knockout, Jesse simply decides to rob the champ's entourage as they head out of town the next day. I guess if you want something offbeat and don't mind tampering with your Western outlaw legends, this could fit the bill. Just don't raise your expectations too high and you'll probably be OK." Colorized Western Movie: Colorado Sundown - Rancher helps a friend claim a spread he's inherited, only to get involved in his murder. The Hurley's own a lumber mill and want to harvest all the timber in the valley. They kill the Forester and substitute their brother Dusty in his place. Colorado Sundown (1952) Director: William Witney Writers: Eric Taylor (screenplay), William Lively (screenplay) Stars: Rex Allen, Koko, Mary Ellen Kay Genre: Western Country: United States Language: English Release Date: 8 February 1952 Filming Location: Shay Ranch, Big Bear Valley, San Bernardino National Forest, California, USA Storyline: The Hurley's own a lumber mill and want to harvest all the timber in the valley. They kill the Forester and substitute their brother Dusty in his place. Dusty then says all the trees are infected and must be cut down. But Rex Allen is suspicious and writes to the Forestry Department. Reviews: "B-westerns almost always have a baddie. It's usually some guy bent on taking over the county and he secretly controls a gang of thugs who are terrorizing the countryside. However, "Colorado Sundown" is quite different. While the plot has the usual attempt to practically steal everyone's land, it's by a trio of evil siblings--and the most evil and conniving is a woman! And, to make things even more different, the woman is even more brutal and vicious than usual! And, instead of a gang, they use trickery and murder to make their plans work and a gang is only recruited when their plan starts to unravel. When the movie begins, three different groups of people think they are inheriting a ranch. In reality, they ALL are inheriting a third. While this may not sound so bad, one group (the Hurleys) are vicious thieves and want it all--and they'll get it one way or another. Their plan is to convince everyone that the land is infested with a bark beetle--and then get all the property for a tiny fraction of what it's worth. Then, they'll do the same thing for all the surrounding land that supposedly is infested. As for Carrie Hurley (June Vincent), she is the boss in her family and specializes in poisonings. The first victim is a forestry official who KNOWS the land is beetle-free. The second is a fake forest ranger who Carrie brought in--and to make matters worse, it's her own younger brother!! In addition to these killings, one Hurley shoots an innocent maid (Louise Beavers) and even a tiny dog!! Could it get worse? Well, she even shoots poor Rex Allen and then claims she shot him AFTER Rex beat the 'ranger' to death--when she actually poisoned him! Can the good guys uncover the plot and dispatch the evil Hurleys? Because the villains are so bad, this is a dynamite B-western. It also helps that the plot is quite original in many ways and Louise Beavers was great as one of the spunkiest women of the old west I've ever seen. Surprisingly good. It is interesting that in this film Rex Allen plays a character named Rex Allen and Slim Pickens played a guy named Slim Pickens! This sort of thing was quite popular in Roy Rogers films, as Roy and Gabby were often referred to by their stage names. Odd. Also odd is that Pickens really was a cowboy and rodeo star--and so playing a cowboy is pretty natural." - written by "planktonrules" on IMDb.com Also Known As (AKA): (original title) Colorado Sundown Brazil Cavaleiro do Colorado Canada (English title) Colorado Sundown Romania Apus de soare în Colorado UK Colorado Sundown USA Colorado Sundown ✘ Website: https://www.grjngo.com FOLLOW US! ✘ Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/grjngo_westernmovies ✘ Twitter - https://twitter.com/Grjngo_com SUPPORT US! ✘ Membership - https://bit.ly/2V63h4q ✘ Merchandise - https://bit.ly/2FLB0sV MORE MOVIES! ► Classics: https://bit.ly/2CBLt8c ► Spaghetti Western: https://bit.ly/2CyCe8I ► All Playlists: https://bit.ly/2EOOfIH #westernmovies #freemovies #spaghettiwesterns COPYRIGHT: All of the films published by us are legally licensed. Trying to discover the man who tried to kill him, he will discover he is a paid gunman too, and terrible truths about his family. Twice a Judas (1968) Director: Nando Cicero Writers: Jaime Jesús Balcázar (story), Jaime Jesús Balcázar (screenplay) Stars: Antonio Sabato, Klaus Kinski, José Calvo Genre: Action | Drama | Mystery | Western Runtime: 92 min Country: Italy | Spain Language: English Release Date: 30 August 1968 (Spain) Also Known As: They Were Called Graveyard Filming Locations: Estudios Balcázar, Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain Storyline: Luke Barrett regains his consciousness and finds himself laying in the desert dust next to a dead man. Also, next to him is a rifle with the word 'Dingus' carved on its stock. Luke cannot remember anything that happened, who he is or how he got there. A bullet grazed his head and gave him a concussion. He has temporary amnesia. Nevertheless, he collects a few useful things from the scene of the shooting, picks up a horse and heads toward the nearest town. In town he goes to the saloon for a drink to help clear his head. In the saloon, a stranger clad in black greets him by his name and asks him why he's late. He also asks where Donovan is. Luke decides to play along in order to find out more about himself. Through conversations with the stranger and other townsfolk who seem to know a lot about him, Luke starts piecing together the facts. That's how he finds out that he, Luke Barrett, and partner Donovan were hired by the stranger clad in black clothing to kill Victor Barrett, a land-owner businessman who also happens to be Luke's brother. The stranger muses that Luke must really hate his brother to agree to kill him for a fee. Luke and the stranger go to a meeting place outside the town where Victor is holding a vote among the farmers who must decide whether to sell their lands to Victor, sell to the bank or not sell at all. While Luke decides to face his brother Victor for a gunfight, the stranger takes aim, using a sniper rifle, from a nearby hill. However, fate will throw things upside-down for both Luke and Victor Barrett. And, gradually, Luke will start recovering his memory which will prove to be both a good thing and a bad one. Reviews: "This spaghetti western was better than I was expecting it to be. It has a very engaging storyline. The protagonist has lost his memory due to a gunshot wound to the head, and he has to unravel the mystery of who murdered his wife and destroyed his family. The movie is very well played out, with suspense building gradually to a showdown at the end. The acting from all of the players in this film is very good, and definitely above average for the genre. Klaus Kinski is, of course, the standout in this category. He is always great to watch, and this is one of his finest eurowestern performances. The music score is rather minimalist, but well-suited to the film. The small bursts of guitar, and the organ part really add to the mood and tension of the movie. This is one of those rather dark and brutal portrayals of the west served up spaghetti style. There is not a shred of comedy in this movie, and that turns out to be a good thing here." Now, the reluctant companions are in search of a fragmented medallion that leads to the hidden treasure. Will they find the gold, and live to tell the tale? Reviews: "Leonard Maltin gave this film a dreaded BOMB rating in his 1995 Movie and Video Guide. What film was he looking at? Kid Vengeance or God's Gun are bombs. This film is a delight. It is fantastic. It is literate. It is well mounted. It is beautiful photographed, making a brilliant use of colors. Right from the opening scene the film grabs your attention and tips you off that this film is a well-done satire of the whole Spaghetti Western genre. The film is played for laughs from the beginning to the end with homages to Douglas Fairbanks, 77 Sunset Strip, and the famous showdown in the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly. Edd Byrnes, George Hilton, and Gilbert Roland work brilliantly together to make the satire work. It is too bad Mr. Maltin rated this film so poorly as it is undeserved. One can only guess as to his reason. I suspect that he missed the point of the movie entirely and was expecting something more serious than this film is meant to be. Kudos belong to everyone involved in this project. This film is a little gem waiting to be discovered by people who care about literate movies and appreciate satire." - written by "Diosprometheus" on IMDb.com Also Known As (AKA): (original title): Vado... l'ammazzo e torno Argentina: Voy... lo mato y vuelvo Belgium (English title) (alternative transliteration): I'll Go...
