Gloria Gaynor - Reach Out I'll Be There (1975) • TopPop

Gloria Gaynor (née Fowles; born September 7, 1943) is an American singer, best known for the disco era hits "I Will Survive" (1978), "Never Can Say Goodbye" (1974), "Let Me Know (I Have a Right)" (1979), and "I Am What I Am" (1983). "Reach Out I'll Be There" (also formatted as "Reach Out (I'll Be There)") is a song recorded by the Four Tops from their fourth studio album Reach Out (1967). Written and produced by Motown's main production team, Holland–Dozier–Holland, the song is one of the best known Motown tunes of the 1960s, and was covered by Gloria Gaynor in 1975. It was the third of three singles released from her LP 'Never Can Say Goodbye'. Gaynor's version of "Reach Out, I'll Be There" became an international hit. It reached number 60 in the U.S. and number 16 in Canada. It did best in Europe, where it reached number 14 in the UK and number five in Germany. Status Quo are an English rock band who play a brand of boogie rock. The group originated in The Spectres, founded by schoolboys Francis Rossi and Alan Lancaster in 1962. After a number of lineup changes, which included the introduction of Rick Parfitt in 1967, the band became The Status Quo in 1967 and Status Quo in 1969. They have had over 60 chart hits in the UK, more than any other rock band, including "Pictures of Matchstick Men" in 1968, "Whatever You Want" in 1979 and "In the Army Now" in 1986 and 2010. Twenty-two of these reached the Top 10 in the UK Singles Chart. In 1991, Status Quo received a Brit Award for Outstanding Contribution to Music. 'Down Down is the 16th single of Status Quo. It is taken form the 1975 album 'On the level'. De single reached #1 in the UK, the Netherlands and Belgium, #2 in Switzerland and Ireland and # 7 in Germany. Tee-Set was a pop rock band formed in 1966 in Delft, Netherlands. The group recorded a single in 1969 titled "Ma Belle Amie", which was a hit in their native country, selling over 100,000 copies. The group released an album in the United States on Colossus Records in 1970 titled Ma Belle Amie (the single of the same name listing the artist as 'The Tee Set'), which reached nr. 158 on the Billboard 200 chart, just as the single took off in the United States, eventually reaching #5. The single sold over 1 million copies, and was awarded a gold disc. The version of "Ma Belle Amie" released in 1970 on Major Minor records in the UK is a different studio version of the song, slower in tempo and beginning in a lower key than the hit U.S. version. In the Netherlands, the next single "She Likes Weeds" attained #1. The follow-up single "If You Do Believe in Love" hit #81. The group disbanded in 1975, but briefly reunited in 1978 and 1983. Since 1983 the band was revived, although its work was mainly nostalgic "sixties". The first line-up in 1965 was with Peter Tetteroo, Gerard Romeyn, Polle Eduard and Carry Janssen. Later Robbie Plazier and Hans van Eijck joined. (he was the main songwriter). 'Do It Any Way You Wanna' is a single by the American music group The People's Choice. It comes from their album Boogie Down U.S.A.. The song is largely instrumental funk; the band sang only the title line. The song reached no 4 in the Dutch Top 40 on November 29, 1975 It was the second single under this group name. Previously, the band was called The People's Choice. She came from the stable of "Gamble and Huff". However, with this single only Leon Huff was at the helm as a writer and music producer. It remained by far their biggest hit. The basis of the song was further used by Dillinger in his song 'Cokane In My Brain', which also featured Sly and Robbie. That became a number 1 hit in the Netherlands. In the Netherlands, the boy band Sat-R-Day also had a minor hit with it in an adaptation. Lucifer was a Dutch pop group from the 1970s, consisting of singer/organist Margriet Eshuijs, bassist Dick Buijsman, drummer Henny Huisman and singer/percussionist Julio Wilson. In 1975 they had a big hit with 'House for sale'. Later, when the band was less successful, Margriet Eshuijs continued with a solo career. In 1974 the group was signed to EMI. Dutch: Lucifer was een Nederlandse popgroep uit de jaren 70, bestaande uit zangeres/organiste Margriet Eshuijs, bassist Dick Buijsman, drummer Henny Huisman en zanger/percussionist Julio Wilson. In 1975 scoorden ze een grote hit met House for sale. Later, toen de band minder succes had, ging Margriet Eshuijs verder met een solocarrière. In 1974 kreeg de groep een contract bij EMI. Margriet Eshuijs (Zaandam, 14 oktober 1952) is een Nederlandse popzangeres. House for sale is een nummer uit 1975 van Lucifer, met leadzangeres Margriet Eshuijs en met verder Henny Huisman als drummer in de gelederen. Het lied werd geschreven door Gloria Sklerov en Harry Lloyd, twee songwriters die in dienst waren bij Garrett Music. Tijdens een bezoek van Peter Schoonhoven van EMI aan Snuff Garrett in 1973, werd hij voorgesteld aan verschillende medewerkers, onder wie Sklerov die hem dit lied op de piano voorspeelde. Schoonhoven vond het prachtig en liet het Frank Jansen (hoofd programmabureau) van Bovema horen, wel gezien als de ontdekker van Lucifer. Op zijn beurt schakelde Jansen opkomende muziekproducent Hans Vermeulen in. Hij haalde Lucifer naar de Bovema Studio in Heemstede. Vermeulen vond echter de musici van Lucifer Henny Huisman (drums), Duick Buisman, Jo Netten en Julio Wilson niet geschikt voor studiowerk (wel voor podiumwerk) en nam het op met “zijn” band Rainbow Train bestaande uit: Hans Vermeulen – gitaar Jan Vermeulen – basgitaar Erik Tagg – dwarsfluit, piano Shell Schellekens – drumstel Rainbow Train Singers – koortje (Hans en Jan Vermeulen, Okkie Huijsdens, Martha Hollestelle, Dianne Marchal, Jody Pijper, Debbie Wokaty) Het nummer bereikte de 4e plaats in de Top 40 en in de Nationale Hitparade op 16 mei 1975. Mit Gottfried Böttger und Les Humphries am Klavier. Dunja Rajter (geboren 1946 in Jugoslawien, bzw. dem heutigen Kroatien) ist eine deutsche Sängerin und Schauspielerin. Die erfolgreichsten Filme in denen sie mitgespielt hat waren "Winnetou I", "Unter Geiern" und "Der Beginn". Anfang der 1970er Jahre wurde sie auch als Sängerin bekannt. Mit den Schlagern "Was ist schon dabei" (1970) und "Salem Aleikum" (1971) kam sie in die Hitparaden. 1972 heiratete sie in zweiter Ehe den Sänger und Bandleader Les Humphries. Sie haben einen gemeinsamen Sohn, Danny Leslie Humphries (geboren 1974). Die Ehe wurde 1976, noch im Jahr dieser TV-Aufzeichnung wieder geschieden. Spotlight war eine Musiksendung für die Jugend, die zwischen 1968 bis 1978 vom österreichischen Rundfunk (ORF) ausgestrahlt wurde. Sie war das Pendant zu Beat Club oder Musikladen in Deutschland.

Joe Dassin - La Fleur aux dents (Auftritt im ORF, 1972)
Joe Dassin wurde 1938 in New York City geboren und war ein französischer Chanson-Sänger, -Komponist und Schriftsteller. Der Kinoregisseur Jules Dassin und die Violinistin Béatrice Launer waren seine Eltern. Während er 1963 in Paris bei Radio RTL arbeitete schlug ihm ein Pressesprecher eines Plattenlabes vor, eine Single aufzunehmen. Daraufhin erschien im März 1965 "Je change un peu de vent". Seine größten Erfolge feierte er in den 1970er-Jahren mit Songs wie "Les Champs-Élysées, den französischen Versionen "Ma Musique" von Rod Stewarts "Sailing" und "L'été indien" von Albatros' "Africa" und "L'Amérique". Er sang auch "La fleur aux dents" und "Ça va pas changer le monde". Sein Album "Septemberwind" wurde in Deutschland sehr erfolgreich und er sang bekannte Lieder auf Deutsch wie zum Beispiel "In Versailles in dem großen Garten", "Schöne Grüße an Mama" und "Es gibt Mädchen so zum Träumen". Er verstarb bereits mit 41 Jahren an den Folgen eines Herzinfarkts. Spotlight war eine Musiksendung für die Jugend, die zwischen 1968 bis 1978 vom österreichischen Rundfunk (ORF) ausgestrahlt wurde. Sie war das Pendant zu Beat Club oder Musikladen in Deutschland.

Fats Domino - Deep In The Heart Of Texas (Live on Austrian TV, 1977)
Antoine Dominique Domino aka Fats Domino (February 26, 1928 – October 24, 2017) had 35 records in the U.S. Billboard Top 40. Here we see him performing live in the Austrian music TV show "Spotlight". This additional part of his performance has not been aired in the initial show but later on in "Spotlight da capo". Spotlight was a music show for the youth, which was aired between 1968 and 1978 by the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation (ORF). It was the counterpart to the shows "Beat Club" or "Musikladen" in Germany.
