The Range Rider - The Crooked Fork | CLASSIC WESTERN | Cowboy | Wild West | English 25:02
The Range Rider - The Crooked Fork | CLASSIC WESTERN | Cowboy | Wild West | English
Free Western Series: The Range Rider - Episode 7 - The Crooked Fork - The Range Rider had a reputation for fairness, fighting ability, and accuracy with his guns and was known far and wide, even by the Indians. The Crooked Fork Stars: Jock Mahoney, Dickie Jones, Bob Woodward Genre: Western Country: USA Language: English Release Date: 1951 (USA) Filming Locations: Alabama Hills, Lone Pine, California, USA Storyline: The Range Rider had a reputation for fairness, fighting ability, and accuracy with his guns and was known far and wide, even by the Indians. Reviews: "Jack or Jock Mahoney as he was known depending on what point in his career he was played The Range Rider for a few seasons on television. The show was part of Gene Autry's Flying Crown stable of television shows. I remember The Range Rider because of the fact that Mahoney really did favor the old fashioned frontiersman manner of dress. Other than a cowboy hat and the regulation six shooter, he wore buckskins and Indian moccasins. His youthful companion Dick West favored the more traditional cowboy garb, in fact his outfit was black like Hopalong Cassidy's. We never did learn what the Range Rider's real name was. He just rode into town with Dick, righted the wrongs and left all in 30 minutes with commercial breaks. Dick Jones who played Dick West was in fact a good rider himself, he could match Jock Mahoney's stuntman background in many ways. As a child actor you might remember him best for being the young Senate page who sported a Boy Ranger badge in the Senate and encouraged Jimmy Stewart to fight on. He was also the kid who died on the gold wagon train heading east in Virginia City. But it was a good thing he could ride and shoot because he was annoying. I guess the Range Rider put up with it as coming with the territory. Jock Mahoney later went on to become Yancey Derringer and later on was one of Hollywood's Tarzans. He might not have had the physique of Johnny Weissmuller or Gordon Scott, but the man was athletic as all get out. Thanks to Gene Autry for bringing us the Range Rider when I was a lad." Written by bkoganbing on IMDb.com "Though The Range Rider is far from being what I would consider a great TV Western, it is a fairly enjoyable and good-natured program, all the same. Starring Jack Mahoney, as the heroic title character, this show also stars Dickie Jones, as "Rider's" all-American sidekick, Dick West. Featuring plenty of hard-riding action, bare-knuckle brawling and gun-play galore (as well as some cornball humour thrown in for good measure), The Range Rider's emphasis was on rugged masculinity with story-lines (though sometimes convoluted) that were oftentimes quite plausible. Showcasing some really excellent stunt-work, The Range Rider (which ran from 1951-1953) was filmed in b&w. Its episodes were all 30 minutes in length." The Southerner | COLORIZED | Old Cowboy Movie | Western Movie in Full Length 01:27:32
The Southerner | COLORIZED | Old Cowboy Movie | Western Movie in Full Length
Colorized Western Movie: The Southerner - The life of the poor Tucker family, that worked as cotton pluggers and decided to get their own ground, but nature is against them. The Southerner (1945) Director: Jean Renoir Writers: Hugo Butler(adaptation)George Sessions Perry(novel "Hold Autumn In Your Hand")Jean Renoir(screenplay) Stars: Zachary Scott, Betty Field, J. Carrol Naish Genre: Drama | Western Release date: December 22, 1945 (Mexico) Language: English Also known as: Hold Autumn in Your Heart Filming locations: Madera, California, USA Storyline: Sam Tucker, a cotton picker, in search of a better future for his family, decides to grow his own cotton crop. In the first year, the Tuckers battle disease, a flood, and a jealous neighbor. Can they make it as farmers? Written by George S. Davis Reviews: "One of the reviewers here thinks it probably is. I agree. I have only watched it twice in my life and I regret it did not have the same impact on me then as it does now in 2020. It is a film that surpasses the word masterpiece, which even I confess to using perhaps too often. It surpasses this very debatable category by reminding us in powerful cinematic terms of a) what it means to live at subsistence level and b) shows us that giving to others without thought of gain is the most precious action in life. Covid-19 should be reminding us of this, but some individual countries like individual people are deliberately failing in seeing this. Sadly some will see this as being ant-Capitalist. I see it as resisting the best quality that we have within us; the quality of unconditional humanity and world friendship. Renoir shows in image after image how the so-called stronger can help those less fortunate to survive. Zachary Scott, an underrated actor, gives an Oscar winning performance. His acting in this film showed a naturalness that was way ahead of its time. And what is most amazing is his sexual presence, close to the earth itself and to the very core of life. I believed in the sexual love between himself and his wife played by the equally great Betty Field. Henry Fonda, Gary Cooper, Gregory Peck, all favourites of the time would have acted; Zachary Scott just is and it was not until the likes of James Dean would that sort of presence be seen on the screen. I hope that is partly why Renoir considered it to be the best of his American films. Renoir's films flow, very much like the river in this film and in my second preferred film of his ' The River '. Scott and Field have this fluidity and their love of the earth itself and the waters that cover it and nourish it are beautifully conveyed. Watch the unforgiving waters at the end of the film and their reactions to it to see that we should accept all that nature itself gives, and to live within this natural rhythm and to survive." Hawkeye and the Last of the Mohicans - The Threat | Episode 02 | COWBOY SERIES | English
Hawkeye and the Last of the Mohicans - Episode 2 - The Threat - Hawkeye and Chingachgook find a group of new settlers, trapped in the Huron's territory. Greedy scout Jake Flint makes a deal with Hurons and together they force other white people to work for them almost as slaves. The Threat Director: Sam Newfield Writers: Endre Bohem (story), Louis Vittes (story) Stars: John Hart, Lon Chaney Jr., John Paris Genre: Western, Adventure Country: Canada | USA Language: English Release Date: 10 April 1957 USA Filming Locations: Lakeshore Studio, Toronto, Ontario, Canada Storyline: Hawkeye and Chingachgook find a group of new settlers, trapped in the Huron's territory. Greedy scout Jake Flint makes a deal with Hurons and together they force other white people to work for them almost as slaves. Reviews: "Set in 1763, second episode "The Threat" begins with Hawkeye and Chingachgook searching for settlers who came all the way from England to Huron territory, held captive to the only trading post nearby, belonging to Jake Flint (John Paris, first of five) and his partner Rafe (Lloyd Chester, first of four). Anyone who chooses to sell their wares in the capitol to the South is threatened with death to Flint's Huron accomplices. Hiram Bass (George Barnes, first of four) takes his wife and son with him, his defiance of Flint resulting in an arrow in his back. Abel Stark (Eric Heath, first of two) explains the situation to Hawkeye, who offers to help the settlers make their way North through friendlier Iroquois country. Trapper Wilcher (Glynne Morris, first of three) is forced to confess their plans to Flint to avoid strangulation by leather, the successful kidnapping of the Bass family forcing Hawkeye and Chingachgook to willingly give themselves up to be sent downstream to certain death by Huron hands. More typical of the series in general, well done on a low budget, allowing the heroes to save the day through good old fashioned fisticuffs. Lon Chaney excelled at physical action, and gets to duke it out on two occasions, while John Hart only gets tough in the water." Written by kevinolzak on IMDb.com "This second show of the first season was a bit of a let down after the showed opened with a 'bang'. This episode finds Hawkeye and Chingachgook rescuing white people from being enslaved by the Hurons and Jake Flint. The only good thing about this episode was to watch Lon Chaney duke it out on screen the old fashioned way - fist to fist. Was a fun watch. 6/10" Written by Rainey-Dawn on IMDb.com ···················································································· FOLLOW US! ✘ Twitter - https://twitter.com/Grjngo_com SUPPORT US! ✘ Membership - http://bit.ly/GrjngoWSMember MORE SERIES! ► All Playlists: https://bit.ly/2SxO9ea ► Bonanza: https://bit.ly/36yMDkl ► The Cisco Kid: https://bit.ly/2Fv165B #westernseries #grjngo #western ···················································································· COPYRIGHT: All of the films published by us are legally licensed. Hawkeye and the Last of the Mohicans - Franklin Story | Episode 03 | Classic Western | English
Hawkeye and the Last of the Mohicans - Episode 3 - Franklin Story - After several people are murdered Hawkeye seeks the help of his friend Benjamin Franklin to stop a would be tyrant. Franklin Story Director: Sam Newfield Writers: Albert Aley, Nat Tanchuck Stars: John Hart, Lon Chaney Jr., Stan Francis Genre: Western, Adventure Country: USA | Canada Language: English Release Date: 17 April 1957 (Canada) Filming Locations: Lakeshore Studio, Toronto, Ontario, Canada Storyline: After several people are murdered Hawkeye seeks the help of his friend Benjamin Franklin to stop a would be tyrant. Reviews: "Here we have Hawkeye and Chingachgook seeking the help of Hawkeye's friend Benjamin Franklin after a secret is revealed to him and several people are murdered. 7/10" Written by Rainey-Dawn on IMDb.com "Franklin Story" is set in Hopeville, ruled with an iron fist by Ryder Kane (William Walsh, first of nine) and top henchman Red Lyman (John Vernon, first of eight). Waiting to ambush the evil pair is townsman Sam Barton (Len Ontkean, first of seven), prevented by Hawkeye's timely arrival, though his later incarceration by the corrupt sheriff (Les Rubie, first of three) soon results in his death. With his dying breath, Barton reveals to Hawkeye the hidden location of a letter written by his murdered brother detailing the crimes of Ryder Kane, who can then be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law once Benjamin Franklin (Stan Francis, first of three) makes his way from Philadelphia. We don't see Franklin until midway through the episode, which marked the debut of longtime veteran (and native Canadian) John Vernon, always an able villain as he shows here, but only in support of the bland Walsh. At least Ben gets a better showcase than George Washington does in "Washington Story."" Bonanza - The Decision | Episode 112 | CLASSIC WESTERN | Cowboys | Free Western Series
Free Western Series: Bonanza - Episode 112 - The Decision - Hoss suffers a life-threatening injury. Only surgery by a doctor in jail for murder can save him. The Decision Director: William F. Claxton (as William Claxton) Writers: Frank Chase (teleplay), Norman Jacob (story) Stars: Lorne Greene, Pernell Roberts, Dan Blocker Genre: Western Country: USA Language: English Release Date: 16 December 1962 USA Filming Locations: Stage 17, Paramount Studios - 5555 Melrose Avenue, Hollywood, Los Angeles, California, USA Storyline: "Hoss suffers a life-threatening injury while riding with his father and brothers. They rush him to a nearby town looking for help. However, the town doctor is in jail, about to be hanged for murder. Ben manages to arrange for the doctor to treat Hoss. Ben then learns that there's more to the doctor than at first appears to be the case. After further investigation, Ben finds that the doctor is innocent. However, he also discovers that the sentencing judge has special reasons for wanting the doctor dead. Ben must somehow convince the judge to do the right thing if the doctor is to be spared from hanging." Written by Charles Delacroix on IMDb.com Reviews: "He plays a doctor who is being set to be hung by the neck for killing a man in a fight. At the same time Hoss needs a doctor to operate on his lung after a horse fell on him. Dr. McCoy to the rescue! Ben gets as involved with the doctor's (and the latter's wife's) problems as much as he does Hoss's bad injury. Ben learns a big, illegal secret about the physician couple and he helps them get back together while saving Hoss all at the same time. This superb ep is another testament to Ben's true greatness as a character (see my reviews). In the top 5 Bonanza eps to be sure! Anywhere in there!" Written by smithbea on IMDb.com "Dan Blocker needs help from a doctor (DeForest Kelly) sentenced for murder by a vengeful John Hoyt as judge. Similar story was done in a Virginian episode 8 years later. This episode is almost over plotted. Still a good cast helps make it work. Brings to mind John Ford and John Huston movies. Also the reflection on love calls to mind Wallace Berry movies. Lorne Greene is excellent." Bonanza - Blessed Are They | Episode 96 | TV Western Series | English | Full Length 48:15
Bonanza - Blessed Are They | Episode 96 | TV Western Series | English | Full Length
Bonanza - Episode 96 - Blessed Are They - Ben Cartwright and Virginia City's enigmatic new minister work together to decide which set of feuding grandparents, the Mahans or the Clarkes, will have custody of their recently orphaned twin grandchildren. Blessed Are They Director: Don McDougall Writers: Borden Chase (teleplay), Frank Cleaver (teleplay) | 1 more credit » Stars: Lorne Greene, Pernell Roberts, Dan Blocker Genre: Western Country: USA Language: English Release Date: 22 April 1962 USA Filming Locations: Stage 17, Paramount Studios - 5555 Melrose Avenue, Hollywood, Los Angeles, California, USA Storyline: The townsfolk of Virginia City find their loyalties divided right down the middle during the raging feud between the Mahans and the Clarkes. It is up to Ben Cartwright to negotiate a cease-fire, and also to decide which family will get custody of twin grandchildren. Helping Ben weather this crisis is the town's new minister (Robert Brown). Written on rottentomatoes.com Reviews: "I caught this today on TV Land (possibly the same day as the first reviewer), & it was quite a gripping episode. When the story brought up the twins, I wondered if they were heading toward a certain Biblical story, which they did. But there's a real surprise waiting for you even after the apparent end of the story, so stay tuned all the way to the end. This episode relies heavily on Biblical references at key points - including the preaching of the Sermon on the Mount, which provides the basis for both the title, and setting up Ben Cartwright's resolution to the custody battle between the feuding families. This is the type of show that was seen 40 to 45 years ago, but rarely is any more. And TV is poorer for it." Written by news77 on IMDb.com "When I do reviews for individual television episodes it's rare that I find someone before me, rarer still to find two people ahead of me in their assessments. This particular episode of Bonanza, Blessed Are They apparently is well remembered by people who viewed it. It is definitely one of the more unusual episodes the series ever had. A new minister in the person of Robert Brown arrives in Virginia City and right into the middle of a controversy with the whole town buzzing. Two small children, Rory O'Brien and Tracy Stratford are the subject of a custody battle between dueling grandparents, the parents having both died. It was apparently a runaway marriage that didn't please either set of parents. Now they battle over the grandchildren. Reverend Brown moves in mysterious ways to bring about this settlement, even involving Lorne Greene as a kind of unofficial arbiter. What Greene does in this religious type episode is use the Bible for guidance. I can't say too much more about Blessed Are They except that the ending will come out of nowhere and that if this were a true story, Virginia City would be the American version of Fatima. This one will stay with you forever once viewed." Yancy Derringer - A Bullet for Bridget | EP05 | COLORIZED | Starring X Brands
Colorized Classic Western Series: Yancy Derringer - Episode 5 - A Bullet for Bridget - An adventurer, gambler, and widely respected southern gentleman is recruited to work as a secret agent, at no pay, in post-Civil War New Orleans, helped by his companion, a silent Pawnee Native American. Yancy Derringer (1958) Director: William F. Claxton Writers: Frederick Brady(teleplay), Mary Loos(story), Richard Sale(story) Stars: Jock Mahoney, Kevin Hagen, X Brands Genre: Action, Adventure, Western Country: United States Language: English Release Date: 6 November 1958 (USA) Filming Location: Desilu Studios - 9336 W. Washington Blvd., Culver City, California, USA Storyline: Madame Francine's girl immigrant cousin keeps being dragged back to a mysterious black freighter from China, The William Brown, supposedly only containing the finest silk. Reconstruction administrator Colton suspects smuggling, but lacks evidence so he assigns Derringer and Pahoo to use not-quite-legal methods to investigate, and to protect the adorable, pug-nosed Irish waif Gidget from being silenced. Reviews: ""Yancy Derringer" was one of those series that dared to be different, a 'Western' that was set in post-Civil War New Orleans. If your memories of Jock Mahoney are of him as a lean, middle-aged Tarzan in his two 1960s appearances as the Ape Man, the show may be something of a surprise. He is soft-spoken, smooth, and dapper, here, and altogether 'cool'. Loaded with a laid-back charm, an Indian partner (X Brand) unique in series television in his status as the hero's 'equal' and not just a 'sidekick' (an episode where the pair take the grievances of the Indian nations to Congress is a personal favorite), and one of the most beautiful theme songs of fifties television, the short-lived program is certainly as 'watchable' as the more successful "Have Gun, Will Travel", "Wanted: Dead or Alive" and the other more 'adult' westerns of the period. If the series re-emerges on one of the 'nostalgia' channels, check it out...you won't be disappointed!" - written by "cariart" on IMDb.com ···················································································· FOLLOW US! ✘ Twitter - https://twitter.com/Grjngo_com SUPPORT US! ✘ Membership - http://bit.ly/GrjngoWSMember MORE SERIES! ► All Playlists: https://bit.ly/2SxO9ea ► Bonanza: https://bit.ly/36yMDkl ► The Cisco Kid: https://bit.ly/2Fv165B #westernseries #grjngo #western ···················································································· COPYRIGHT: All of the films published by us are legally licensed. When the oil and the money start gushing in, both Brad and Jim want to protect the land but Cherokee has different ideas. What started out as revenge for her father's death has turned into an obsession for wealth and power. Reviews: "I recently bought a huge (300 films) collection of old movies on DVD. Plowing through them, I was struck by how bad most of those period movies were. I saw many of them when they were first released, but I don't remember that they were mostly junk. But every so often, one comes along which is really quite good, indeed, even excellent. "Tulsa" is one of those. I was really pleasantly surprised. Moreover, I had completely forgotten how outstanding Susan Hayward was. To see her again was a real pleasure. She not only acts superbly, but she is some knockout in the looks department. Really outstanding. The rest of the acting was also of very high caliber This movie is certainly worth seeing." Written petemetzger on IMDb.com. "The chemistry of the triangle is really good here, with Gough a worthy rival for Preston of fickle Hayward's affections with moral and character at the root of the question. Ed Begley is excellent in an early role. And, Pedro Armendariz steals the film as an American Indian who feels forced into action when promised conservation guidelines are reckless thrown aside for the profitability of the oil drillers. Very much worth watching" Written by the_old_roman on IMDb.com. "I had put off watching Tulsa for almost 2 years before i actually watched it,i never seen a Susan Hayward film before, and i was impressed by her acting, and thought she was very attractive.the story is simple enough,Susan Hayward plays Cherokee who is part Indian, her father is killed from an oil well disaster.the oil well is near their cattle ranch, and the oil has killed off their cattle.well anyway Cherokee vows revenge on the death of her father and goes after the oil tycoon wanting him to pay for the cattle that were killed.she later turns into an oil tycoon herself with the help of a geologist played by Robert Preston(last star-fighter,victor Victoria)then she starts to turn greedy.Tulsa is a well made movie and i notice its also a public domain movie,i bought mine for a dollar,it has a second feature called perils of Pauline, never seen it yet but perhaps i'll save it for a rainy day.Tulsa is filmed in color,it was released in 1949.Tulsa gets 8 out o0f 10.good movie.i recommend." Written by Fred Blorgs Reviews: Warning: Spoilers "It *IS* true, this movie is NOT Citizen Kane, BUT, it is a VERY FUN Family Movie! As a parent, I was always on the lookout for various types of movies that I could keep in the house without having to explain explicit sexual situations, violence, foul language, ad nauseum. This is light fare, silly, vastly amusing even lots of groaning! You can watch it with the kids, with the grandparents, with your favorite religious leader totally without embarrassment. It's a feel-good type movie. If you're the type of parent who likes to use situations as teaching/learning moments, there's great opportunities to do this here. I saw this as a teen and remembered it fondly. Saw it again with the kidlets and enjoyed it. Would I bring my film-critics meetup over to watch it? Nope. Was there laughter and groaning? Yep. Am I glad I kept it in the house? Yep. My favorite scene? Half way through when the narrator uses the map to show where everyone is located and why. Why is that funny? You watch it and tell me!"
