The original Mad Max hit UK screens in December 1979. Between BBFC cuts and the distributor's decision to use the US-dubbed soundtrack, it's fair to say the film wasn't looking or sounding its best - nonetheless, it managed to gain a respectable audience and the way was well paved for subsequent instalments. Perhaps due to Max's (then) less well-known director and stars, the same distributor (Columbia-EMI-Warner) padded out the programme with a full supporting feature, Umberto Lenzi's From Hell to Victory. I've included the opening and closing of that (now mostly forgotten) film to give a taste of the overall presentation, along with the usual selection of ads and trailers for attractions heading to your local ABC in late 1979 and 1980. They were playing some Anime movie with subtitles. Nothing against something with subtitles, it's just that in an auditorium like that, a movie with subtitles all the seating besides the back 3 rows becomes a no man's land, and yer gonna want the very back seat. This shows how CLUELESS this industry is. The auditorium was designed for 15/70 Imax films. Like, nature documentaries and such. Everybody seams to forget that. Because we live in clown world. Everything sucks and is stupid in clown world. It's why I feel like running away all the time. Too bad there's no where to go. Also I failed to clarify properly the thing I'm always saying: Movies are supposed to be on 35mm film because it costs a few thousand dollars per copy of the movie, per auditorium. If you make a stinker, that no one goes to see, you are supposed to loose money from not having sold enough tickets to have paid for the film prints. Truly great films can pay for themselves and STILL make a profit. This is how the art form called "Film" is supposed to work. But no, we live in clown world and ppl who make videos falsely call themselves "Filmmakers" when in fact they are not. Film and Video are 2 totally different things. Stop calling your video a "Film".
