It, along with "Where the Red Fern Grows," was one of the most moving movies I saw in my pre-teens. Coincidentally, Stewart Petersen starred in both films, so it may have been a quality in his character that particularly influenced me. Coincidentally, this same actor's portrayal of the young Joseph Smith in "The First Vision," which I saw two years later during a trip through Salt Lake City, changed my life forever. I don't even think todays preteens would have the patience (or half of them, the Intelligence) for a movie that isn't a comedy or a fantasy! With little or no hope of recovery and all attempts to find her called off, he sets off with a drunken Richard Boone (in a fantastic performance) to find her, his only clue being a gold headband. Although this isn't among the best westerns ever made, it's a truly entertaining outdoor adventure, the best thing about it being the developing relationship between Boone and the stubborn boy as he pushes the cantankerous old man out of his comfort zone and towards the truth about his sister's disappearance. Quando la madre di Ringo viene uccisa e Ringo viene picchiato duramente, il ragazzo cieco si mette sul sentiero di guerra per distruggere tutti, usando le sue pistole, il suo amico pazzo e un sacco di cannoni e spari. 3 colpi di Winchester per Ringo è una vera follia da Spaghetti Western. Ogni volta che Ringo scende in battaglia, decine di cattivi vengono fatti fuori, c'è una vera e propria battaglia a colpi di cannone in un sistema di caverne, e una battaglia culminante in città tra i buoni e i cattivi, con i sopravvissuti che calpestano letteralmente tutti i cadaveri per arrivare l'uno all'altro. Gordon Mitchell era sicuramente brutto, però, eh? Inoltre, i fan del realismo potrebbero voler stare alla larga da questo film, dato che Ringo è in grado di abbattere interi eserciti di cattivi senza ricaricare e senza nemmeno usare una copertura. Come ci si può aspettare da un film italiano, tutto è bello, soprattutto la scena in cui tre cattivi massacrano Ringo e la sua famiglia. C'è anche una sorta di strana cerimonia voodoo e i cattivi progettano di arrostire il figlio di Ringo su un fuoco. I fan degli spaghetti western dovrebbero cercarlo. Davis Recensioni: "Uno dei recensori qui pensa che probabilmente lo sia. Sono d'accordo. L'ho visto solo due volte nella mia vita e mi dispiace che non abbia avuto lo stesso impatto su di me allora come adesso nel 2020. È un film che supera la parola capolavoro, che anche io confesso di usare forse troppo spesso. Supera questa categoria molto discutibile ricordandoci in termini cinematografici potenti a) cosa significa vivere a livello di sussistenza e b) ci mostra che dare agli altri senza pensare al guadagno è l'azione più preziosa della vita. Covid-19 dovrebbe ricordarci questo, ma alcuni singoli paesi come singole persone stanno deliberatamente fallendo nel vedere questo. Purtroppo alcuni vedranno questo come essere anticapitalista. Io lo vedo come una resistenza alla migliore qualità che abbiamo dentro di noi; la qualità dell'umanità incondizionata e dell'amicizia mondiale. Renoir mostra, immagine dopo immagine, come il cosiddetto più forte possa aiutare i meno fortunati a sopravvivere. Zachary Scott, un attore sottovalutato, dà una performance da premio Oscar. La sua recitazione in questo film mostra una naturalezza che anticipa i tempi. E ciò che è più sorprendente è la sua presenza sessuale, vicina alla terra stessa e al nucleo stesso della vita. Ho creduto all'amore sessuale tra lui e sua moglie, interpretata dall'altrettanto grande Betty Field. Henry Fonda, Gary Cooper, Gregory Peck, tutti i beniamini dell'epoca avrebbero recitato; Zachary Scott lo è e basta, e solo con James Dean si sarebbe visto sullo schermo quel tipo di presenza. Spero che questo sia in parte il motivo per cui Renoir lo considerava il migliore dei suoi film americani. It's along hot trip across the desert with a purposeful woman,a homicidal gunslinger, the former bounty hunter and his simple sidekick and the unknown quarry. Reviews: "This right here is a painfully overlooked western that, in my opinion, should be mentioned right along with classic westerns like Once Upon a Time in The West or The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly. Though perhaps not quite as good as those films, it's an under-appreciated classic nonetheless. The actors are all very good, especially a very young Jack Nicholson playing his trademark lunatic years before it was his trademark. Though his character has a fairly small role and doesn't show up until over half way through the movie, he is easily the best character involved. The rest of the actors are good as well, and Millie Perkins is one heck of a beautiful woman. The plot, which I wont ruin for you, is very well written and delivers a completely unexpected twist at the very end. The only complaint that I can think of about this film is the pacing. From the start we are given first-person camera-shots, we see the dusty cloying ground, we feel wary, not knowing if a bushwhack is coming upon us. The music from Richard Markowitz is a passable pastiche of Penderecki and fully adds to the loneliness and isolation. The most claustrophobic shot is when we are put into a tent with Coley and Willett. Coley is half-crazy in a cabin-fever state, having been awake two days guarding against an unknown killer who has blown his associate's face off. The tent is of wondrous antiquity, and closes in on them. The movie descends into a dance of death, a crazy mass suicide into the middle of the Utah desert. The final scene plays out as a scramble up a grey valley covered in dirty gold boulders. Just totally exquisite. Perhaps the best western you'll ever see." Reviews: The Baker of Baker's Hawk refers to young Lee Harcourt Montgomery who is the son of Clint Walker and Diane Baker who finds an injured hawk in the forest. Montgomery takes what he thinks is a chance and goes to the cabin of Burl Ives who has the reputation of being a crazy man. In truth he's just an old hermit who likes animals a lot better than people and the people around his part of the west don't give him any reason to feel differently. But he does warm to young Montgomery and the two of them work on mending the hawk and maybe training it. The adults have some problems of their own. Clint Walker is standing up against a town who wants to form a vigilante committee because they don't like certain elements coming into their area.. All under the guise of law and order, mind you. The head vigilante is of all people Alan Young who plays a storekeeper, but who really has no idea what he's starting. Eventually Walker becomes the deputy for the town to county sheriff Taylor Lacher and that sets everything up for a final confrontation. Baker's Hawk is a nice family film with some good teachings about taking the law into your own hands and the consequences that can result. It's got some nice location cinematography in a couple of national forests located in Utah. And the scenes with Ives and Montgomery and the animals are the best part of the film. The ranch has a U.S. Army contract to furnish horses, but she sees little hope of being able to make good because the stock is being rustled, and she asks Gordon for his help.
