Is it two adults and two kids, or maybe two adults and more kids, including some from previous marriages? Perhaps it’s three adults and a few kids because one refused to leave home when they reached adulthood. There’s also a fair chance it’s a three-generation household with a grandparent or two in situ – which is great for impromptu babysitting but cumbersome for family excursions. The reality is, there is no Australian family stereotype anymore, as the National Census discovered. While this census revealed that the average household now has just 2.6 people compared to 3.6 in 1961 and a claustrophobic 4.5 back in 1911, it also discovered that 20 per cent of Australian abodes are home to “Extended Families” – up from 16 per cent in 1991. Extended families include: three or more generations under one roof; other relatives (such as uncles, aunts and cousins); unrelated persons (friends or partners of offspring); and even adult children aged 25 and over. Personally, I couldn’t wait to leave home the minute I got my first regular paycheck, but not all young Australians are so eager to fly the nest. So, when it comes to moving the “typical” Australian family – going out for dinner, to the shops, the beach, or even just handling the morning school and work run – having a car that can keep up is crucial. That’s where we come in. Drive has gathered 12 of the most interesting and capable Sport Utility Vehicles with at least seven seats and put them under the microscope to find the one that is the best for moving Australian families.  #SUVcomparison #Megatest #SUV ______________________________________________________________________________________________ At Drive we pride ourselves on being the future of automotive and letting you, as the driver and reader, know where it's all headed. IT'S HERE! Collecting My New FERRARI PUROSANGUE and SPEC REVEAL 32:17
IT'S HERE! Collecting My New FERRARI PUROSANGUE and SPEC REVEAL
My brand new Ferrari Purosangue is finally here! Join me to pull the covers off and reveal my spec for the 'FUV', one of the first in the world, before bringing it back home. The result is absolutely perfect! Shmoo the Cow is also back: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/235315012474 Having returned from the USA, it's also time to re-introduce Shmoo the Cow, the Shmee150 Mascot! Along with a new drop of Shmoo the Cow himself, we also have sets of air fresheners and sticker sheets available right now in the Shmee150 eBay shop: https://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/shmee150 I ordered the Purosangue a couple of years ago, to join my SF90 Stradale and 296 GTS in the garage as my 3rd brand new Ferrari, and a totally different car to the others. Having previously owned an FF, and two GTC4Lussos, the first ever SUV (or not an SUV) from Maranello was a natural successor and one that will be well used in the years ahead. However, prior to collection day, I'm yet to reveal and announce the spec that I've chosen for this V12-equipped machine. To celebrate the arrival, we're taking both of the current Maranello-built supercars on the road to Ferrari Hatfield, the sister dealership to Ferrari Mayfair from where I purchase my cars, and the venue of choice for delivery day of one of the earliest customer Purosangues out there. The car awaits us in the handover bay, significantly larger than the recently delivered 296 GTS, but ready for a full presentation and first drive back home. Let's dive into the options; as a tribute to my first ever Ferrari, the Purosangue is painted in multi-layer Blu Le Mans paintwork with bright silver wheels and red calipers, finished with all exterior carbon fibre and a panoramic glass roof. I'm particularly proud of my interior choice with dual-tone Cuoio and Blu Sterling for a tan/blue split and very highly equipped in terms of technology to make a spectacularly pleasant place to be seated for long drives. Due to the car having arrived in the first half of October but with my travels in the meantime, it's already been to the team at @TopazDetailing for full Paint Protection Film to be installed. The beauty of this setup and convenience with HR Owen, is that it's fully ready to go straight out onto the road and get started on getting the run in completed. BMW v Mercedes v Audi v Volvo: BEST premium SUV review 27:58
BMW v Mercedes v Audi v Volvo: BEST premium SUV review
If you’re in the market for a high-end plug-in hybrid SUV, which should you go for - a Mercedes GLC, BMW X3, Audi Q5 or Volvo XC60? Well, Mat’s got his hands on each one, and he’s about to put them all head-to-head to find out which is the #1 plug-in hybrid SUV you can get your hands on! So let’s see how they all compare. Starting with the Volvo, it’s one of the oldest cars here - but it can still keep up with these more modern plug-in hybrids! Since 2017 it’s only had a couple of minor updates made to the design and interior, but it still has a classy design, with chrome trim on the outside helping it to stand out. The interior is pretty minimalist, although controlling most features through the touchscreen infotainment system can be a bit annoying. It also has new digital dials, but they’re a bit bland. The XC60 is powered by a 2-litre turbo petrol engine and an electric motor, the T8 is the most powerful car in this line-up, being able to produce 455hp. An entry-level XC60 will set you back £47,650. Next up we have the Audi Q5. It may come with exceedingly obvious fake exhaust pipes, but it’s still one of the best-looking cars here. Just like the Volvo it comes with chrome trim on the outside, and all-in-all it looks pretty smart. The interior is well built as well, with soft-touch materials found throughout the cabin. Thankfully it comes with physical buttons for the climate control, and the digital dials are probably the best in this entire line-up. The Audi Q5 is equipped with a 2-litre turbo petrol engine & an electric motor, and this 50 TFSI e edition can produce 299hp. The Audi Q5 range is the most affordable, too, with it coming in at a price of £46,785. Next up it’s the BMW. Up front, it comes with a pretty huge grille (which will come as no surprise to our BMW fanboys & girls), but we think it makes it’s all a bit much. After all, it’s only a family-friendly SUV, so it could perhaps do with being toned down a bit. Thankfully the quality of the cabin more than makes up for this, with high-quality materials found throughout, and a pretty high-tech infotainment screen which can be controlled with a dial on the centre console. The X3 is powered by a 2-litre turbo petrol and an electric motor, but it’s the least powerful hybrid here, with the xDrive 30e only able to produce 292hp. The BMW X3 range kicks off at £47,295. Then finally we have the newest car in this line-up, the Mercedes GLC. Just like the Audi it has super prominent fake exhausts, but we still think it’s one of the best-looking cars here. It has a great side profile, and the elements of chrome trim and the running boards along the side enhance the look. It’s a positive story on the inside, too, with a large infotainment screen in the centre of the dash and a large digital dial display. You’ll find soft-touch materials throughout the cabin as well. It’s powered by a (you guessed it…) 2-litre turbo petrol with an electric motor, and these combine to produce 320hp. It’ll come as no surprise that the GLC is also the most expensive car here, being the newest, with the range starting from £52,880. But which do you think is the best - will the all-new GLC come out on top? Or does the classic XC60 stand a chance? You’ll need to stick with Mat and see for yourself! Our Top-5 Luxury Compact SUVs for 2023 // Which one would you pick? 24:17
Our Top-5 Luxury Compact SUVs for 2023 // Which one would you pick?
#CoupleCarReviews #Top-5LuxurySUVs This is a Motormouth couple car review of the top-5 luxury compact SUVs. There are many brands to choose from and all have high and low points, so we have come up with our top-5, in alphabetical order and you tell us which one you would choose. Acura RDX Pros: Roomy cabin and cargo area, lots of available tech and a good looking interior with very little hard plastic. Flat floor in the back makes it comfortable for middle seat passengers. Great vehicle for a growing family. Cons: Track pad is difficult to use, there’s only one powertrain option and only two trims in Canada, but plenty of trims in the US making it quite an affordable option in the US. Audi Q5 Pros: Great all-rounder, it does everything really well and appeals to a lot of buyers with its light steering and easy handling. Cons: Needs an interior update, the screen seems like an afterthought sitting on top of the dash and with the removal of the centre console dial, there are some odd storage solutions. Although some may love the lighter steering, I also think that is a negative for some. BMW X3 Pros: Excellent handling SUV, engaging and entertaining. The steering is heavier than what you would find in the Q5 but you can change the heaviness of it depending on the drive mode you are in. BMW is moving more to a lighter steering feel. The infotainment system is fantastic, we like the option of controlling the screen at the centre console or using it as a touchscreen and this is a spacious compact SUV. Cons: The interior isn’t as nice as we expected, BMW added a fair amount of hard plastic to the cabin. The leather seats can look cheap. Genesis GV70 Pros: Strong performing engines, precise steering, smooth, quiet and upscale cabin, very beautiful interior. Cons: Small rear seat, no wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto, sometimes we mix up the rotary dial and infotainment dial at times, they are very close together. Lexus NX Pros: Updated technology including, wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto, fully heated steering wheel, Lexus Safety System 3.0 and safe exit assist, comfortable cabin and 4 powertrain options including a hybrid and plug-in hybrid. The hybrid model is priced well and is our favourite NX model. Cons: The run-flat tires can get a little bit loud depending on the pavement you are driving on, piano black interior on the lower trims, could look a little more upscale for a Lexus on those So the list is Acura RDX, Audi Q5, BMW X3, Genesis GV70 and the Lexus NX. We also have some honourable mentions for brands like the: Alfa Romeo Stelvio Two powertrain options, a 2L turbocharged 4-cylinder with an 8-speed automatic transmission, 280 horsepower and 306 lb-ft of torque. The Quadrifoglio the more powerful Stelvio gets 505 horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque. Porsche Macan Three powertrain options, the base model has a 2L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine with a 7-speed automatic transmission, 261 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. Other models available include the Macan S with 375 horsepower and the GTS, 434 horsepower. A Macan EV is coming soon. Mercedes-Benz GLC There is a new GLC model coming this year, but surprisingly this one holds up and is a great choice. The interior feels luxurious, the drive is refined, quick acceleration and the cabin is well insulated. Powertrain: There are two powertrain options, the base model has a 2L turbocharged 4-cylinder with a 9-speed automatic transmission, 255 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque. The AMG 43 gets a biturbo V6 with 385 horsepower and 384 lb-ft of torque. Volvo XC60 With three powertrain options including a plug-in hybrid, all 4-cylinder powertrains and are matted to an 8-speed automatic transmission. The B5 with 247 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque, B6 with a supercharger gets 295 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque and the 455 horsepower T8 plug-in hybrid with 58 km/36 miles of EV range Andrea Instagram https://www.instagram.com/motormouth_andrea/ Zack Instagram https://www.instagram.com/motormouth_auto/

VW Touareg review: A budget Bentley? 24:48
VW Touareg review: A budget Bentley?
Meet the new VW Touareg! The Touareg is the largest Volkswagen SUV you can buy, and it’s just had a mid-life facelift! But how much has actually changed? Well, Mat’s got his hands on one to find out… Starting with the design, it still looks pretty similar to the last edition, although there are a few notable differences. Starting at the rear, the Touareg now comes with a full-length light bar and a redesigned bumper. Along the side, there are some new alloy wheel designs, and all new editions of the Touareg come with black roof bars. You’ll find a redesigned grille, an updated bumper, and some new headlight designs. What’s more, these now come as Matrix LEDs! Step inside and the design is pretty similar to the last edition, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing! There are soft-touch materials throughout the large cabin, and all cars now come with a large infotainment screen that also has some updated graphics. The car we have here also has a nice, large digital dial display which is very easy to read. There are a number of engines available with the Touareg. You can get a 3-litre V6 turbo petrol that has 340hp, and then there are two hybrid models. They use the same 3-litre V6, and while one produces 380hp, the other produces 460hp - the latter car is the high-performance R model, no less! There is also a choice of two diesel engines available, both of which are 3-litre V6 turbo diesel. The all-new Touareg starts from around £68,000, but is it worth it?! Or should you choose a competitor like the BMW X5 instead? You’ll need to stick with Mat to see for yourself! FWD only. 2024 Mazda CX-30 The base engine is a 2.5L 4-cylinder matched to a 6-speed automatic transmission, 191 horsepower and 186 lb-ft of torque. There is the more powerful 2.5L turbocharged 4-cylinder with 227 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque on regular fuel. You get a bit of a bump in power if you use premium, 250 horsepower and 320 lb-ft of torque 2024 Hyundai Kona Three powertrain options, a non-turbo and turbo gas model as well as a pure EV. The Kona is all new with updated technology, a nicer interior design, it’s bigger than the outgoing model but it lacks features compared to some of its competitors like the Seltos. We also found this new model not as fun to drive as the outgoing Kona with the dual clutch transmission. Hyundai went with an 8-speed automatic for the new model. One of the biggest complaints of the outgoing model was the lack of space, so Hyundai definitely changed that with the new model. Previous model got a great reliability score of 83/100 from JD Power, we’ll see how this new one does. 2024 Kia Niro The Niro has three electrified powertrain options, hybrid, plug-in hybrid and a BEV. It’s priced well, it’s spacious, comfortable and gets great fuel economy. Unfortunately, there is no AWD option and the hybrid is under powered. The Niro doesn’t get the best reliability score from JD Power, a 76/100. 2024 Volkswagen Taos The Taos has a standard turbocharged engine with 158 horsepower. FWD models have an 8-speed automatic transmission and AWD models a 7-speed dual clutch transmission which makes it quite a unique vehicle. It’s spacious, comfortable and has plenty of updated technology. Andrea Instagram https://www.instagram.com/motormouth_andrea/ Zack Instagram https://www.instagram.com/motormouth_auto/
