Jacques Brel - Ne Me Quitte Pas - 1961 • TopPop
Today is the 40th anniversary of Jacques Brel's death, on 9 October, 1978. That’s why we publish today one of his best know songs ‘Ne Me Quitte Pas’. Considered by some as "Brel's ultimate classic", it was written after Brel's mistress "Zizou" (Suzanne Gabriello) threw him out of her life. 'Ne Me Quitte Pas' has been recorded by many international artists over the years. A well-known adaptation, with English lyrics by Rod McKuen, is "If You Go Away". Romain Georges Brel (8 April 1929 – 9 October 1978) was a Belgian singer, songwriter, poet, actor and film director who composed and performed literate, thoughtful, and theatrical songs that generated a large, devoted following—initially in Belgium and France, later throughout the world. He is considered a master of the modern chanson. Although he recorded most of his songs in French and occasionally in Dutch, he became an influence on English-speaking songwriters and performers. English translations of his songs were recorded by many performers, including David Bowie, Scott Walker, Alex Harvey, Marc Almond, Rod McKuen, Ray Charles, Judy Collins, John Denver, the Kingston Trio, Nina Simone, Frank Sinatra, and Andy Williams. This exclusive video clip is part of the stunning performance Jacques Brel did on 21 May 1961 in the Kurhaus, Den Haag, The Netherlands, recorded and broadcast on June 10, 1961 by AVRO Television and directed by AVRO Managing Director Ger Lugtenburg himself. This video will be part of the Dutch book/DVD release ‘Brel in Nederland’ written by Henk van Gelder. Other material on the DVD includes other Jacques Brel AVRO TV concerts recorded in 1962 and 1963. The release coincides with the 40th anniversary of Brel's death. Brel is accompanied by the AVRO house orchestra ‘de Zaaiers’ under the direction of Jos Cleber and with Brel’s own pianist Gérard Jouannest. In the full video of the concert Jacques Brel slips and falls on the stage, ultimately damaging his guitar after performing the song 'Quand on n'a que l'amour'. ‘Ne Me Quitte Pas’ was recorded a.o. by the following artists: Barbara, Nina Simone, Frida Boccara, Sandie Shaw, Vicky Leandros, Gigliola Cinquetti, Mari Trini, Mireille Mathieu, Alison Moyet, Liesbeth List, Juliette Gréco, Sting, Hugues Aufray, Barbara Streisand, Celine Dion, Caro Emerald, Wyclef Jean and many, many others. Brian Hyland - Sealed With A Kiss (1962) 4K 02:46
Brian Hyland - Sealed With A Kiss (1962) 4K
Brian Hyland performing "Sealed With A Kiss", released originally in 1962. It reached #3 in the UK Singles Chart and #3 in the US Billboard Hot 100. Brian Hyland was one of a handful of pre-Beatles teen idols who ruled American airwaves in the early 60s. This is the most comprehensive collection of Brian Hyland's early work ever released, including all of his international chart hits. Features three complete original albums and both sides of all his singles from 1960 to 1962. All the classic hits like, "Sealed with a Kiss", "Ginny Come Lately", "Warmed Over Kisses" and of course "Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini" are included. Brian Hyland continued to have success into the 70s and is still performing today. This was Hyland's biggest hit in the UK, but 2 years earlier in the US at the age of 16, he enjoyed an American chart topper with "Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polkadot Bikini." This archetypal American high-school teen love song was composed by Gary Geld and lyricist Peter Udell. The duo began their writing partnership in the early sixties and wrote over 100 songs together. One of their first songs was this, which they wrote in 1960 and was a hit for Brian Hyland two years later. Brian Hyland's enduring popularity and success can be attributed to his ability to adapt to changing musical styles over the decades. His music continues to resonate with fans of all ages, making him a beloved figure in the world of classic hits. Every Billboard Hot 100 #1 Single Ever (1958-2023) *REMASTERED VERSION IN DESCRIPTION* 02:13:56
Every Billboard Hot 100 #1 Single Ever (1958-2023) *REMASTERED VERSION IN DESCRIPTION*
The new, updated, and TRUE remastered version of this video is now available: https://youtu.be/jcx1j6GiuvI Every #2 Single on the Hot 100 Ever: https://youtu.be/GOe-Js3yjY8 The remastered version of my first ever huge project. Updated to the current week, featuring many improvements such as... -Improved audio, now in stereo -Improved visuals -Upgraded to 1080p60 for videos that support the framerate -Balanced audio -Fixed several noteworthy typos and alignments with texts -Updated to the week of Mar 4. 2023 As a side note, I want to talk about the remaster of this video as well as the future of this channel, and the impact the old #1 video had on my channel. This remaster was just like what I did all those years ago when I set out as the first person to successfully publish every #1 hit from start to finish without breaking it up into parts; just one long, continuous stretch. Most people broke their videos into parts and I hadn't really seen anyone upload the #1s before the 70s, so it was my mission to deliver. Since it was the first time doing something like this, there obviously were several issues when I published it. In this remaster, I set out to fix those problems and I really hope that I didn't make any spelling errors in the video. If I did, please let me know so next time I can narrow down which parts I made errors on and correct them. As for the video itself, I recreated the whole video from scratch. I did not have any clips saved from the previous video (it wouldn't have mattered since they were 30fps anyways). Every clip in this video was rerecorded, edited, mixed, etc. However, this time around, I had noticed there was a larger variety of clips from older songs with better quality than the first time I did this project. Unfortunately, several clips I had used in the first video have now disappeared and there is no footage of the same clip on several songs. If I ever come across them when I update this video next year, I will include them, but that is what you should expect when dealing with YouTube and copyright. Also, in terms of the copyright system: my video was taken down and not allowed in any country in the world due to copyright. That is why my original video is no longer up on the site, and I am the only one that can access it. I made a community post sometime ago explaining the situation and deleted the post several weeks after. In case anyone was wondering what happened to it, there's your answer. Moving on, in terms of the future of the channel, I am still committed to do Every #5s, 6s, etc. at least until #10s. Eventually, and I mean in the far far future, I will reach the end with every #100s, but that is a daunting task for another day. In terms of success, I hope that this video reaches the heights, maybe even more, of its predecessor. The original video before it was removed had almost 300k views, 5.2k likes, and 1.1k comments which is insane!!! Thank you everyone that viewed, liked (and disliked), and commented on the video no matter what it was. It really means a lot and I never expected it to blow up the way that it did. Before the video I only had a measly 38 subscribers and posted Geometry Dash content. Due to that video and subsequent others, I gained 1.6k subscribers in about a year! Thank you so much. For this year, I want to at least make videos up to every #10s, as well as other little projects along the way. Cheers to a great 2023... ~~~~~~~~~~~~ COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT IS NOT INTENDED. THIS IS PURELY FOR ENTERTAINMENT. THIS VIDEO IS NOT/WILL NOT BE MONETIZED UNLESS DECIDED BY RECORD LABELS. I, AS THE INDIVIDUAL, WILL NOT MAKE ANY MONEY WHATSOEVER OFF OF THIS VIDEO. THIS VIDEO IS STRICLY FOR ENTERTAINMENT AND WAS A PROJECT I HAVE BEEN WORKING ON FOR FUN. ENJOY! Every single #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 from the very beginning up until this past week. From the weeks of Aug 4. 1958 to Mar 4. 2023, there have been over 1,000 songs to have graced the top spot for at least one week. This video is a compilation of all of those songs; from the very beginning to the present. Music has really changed over the past decades, and this is represented within this video. It is really interesting and entertaining to see which songs have reached #1 within the US. I made sure this time that I could get the best possible audio for many songs that were questionable in quality last time. This is the biggest video I have ever worked on, and rightfully so. I have the spreadsheet for every #1 linked below so that you can check it out. I also have the biggest hits of each year since some weren't in this video due to them never reaching #1. Link: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1gxPIruZx_f_W7lY6E5yva1H_ycizjWD-7kwO6HB8Sd8/edit?usp=sharing Thank you for watching, I appreciate it very much. If you made it this far and through the whole video, I congratulate you. Stay safe.
