Bodycam footage shows the moment a white police officer shot dead a black woman inside her home in Fort Worth.

The shooting occurred early on Saturday during a welfare check after a neighbour called the police non-emergency line to report that the front door to the home was open.

Fort Worth Police Department have released a recording of the phone call.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office identified the woman as Atatiana Jefferson.

The 28-year-old had been minding her 8-year-old nephew when she was killed.

The officer, whose name has not been released, does not identify himself as police in the video.

The officer fired a single shot after "perceiving a threat," a police statement said.
