Fresno Police releasing body cam footage on Friday of an officer-involved shooting from December 22. The scene between 26-year-old Ryan Brooks and two Fresno PD officers unfolded outside a dirt lot on north Friant Road and Highway 41 when the officers approach a white Volkswagen car with Brooks inside.

The second officer can be heard on the body cam footage.

Fresno Police learning Brooks was contemplating suicide and made the false report in an attempt to force a confrontation with police to end his life.

The investigation concluded Ryan Brooks pointed a toy gun at the officers in the moments before shots were fired. He was treated by paramedics for non-life-threatening injuries.
