* Nasceu em 30 de julho de 1958 em Bexleyheath (Inglaterra). Filha de um médico inglês (clínico geral) e de uma enfermeira irlandesa.
* Em 1978, aos 19 anos, ela liderou as paradas inglesas por 4 semanas com seu primeiro single "Wuthering Heights", tornando-se a primeira artista feminina a alcançar o nº 1 no Reino Unido com uma canção auto-escrita.
