* É também creditado somente como "Nilsson".
* Foi um cantor e compositor norte-americano que alcançou o auge de seu sucesso comercial no início da década de 70.
* Nascido no Brooklyn, Nilsson mudou-se para Los Angeles quando era adolescente para escapar da situação financeira ruim de sua família. Enquanto trabalhava como programador de computador em um banco, ele se interessou por composição musical e canto.
* "Everybody's Talkin'" (1968), foi destaque no filme "Midnight Cowboy" de 1969.
* Durante uma coletiva de imprensa em 1968, os Beatles foram questionados sobre qual era seu grupo americano favorito e responderam "Nilsson". Às vezes chamado de "O Beatle Americano", ele logo formou amizades próximas com John Lennon e Ringo Starr. Na década de 70, Nilsson, Lennon e Starr eram membros do clube de bebidas "Hollywood Vampires", envolvendo-se em uma série de incidentes amplamente divulgados, movidos ao álcool.
* Nascido com problemas cardíacos congênitos, Nilsson sofreu um ataque cardíaco em 14 de fevereiro de 1993 e faleceu quase 1 ano depois de insuficiência cardíaca aos 52 anos.
