If you're a fan of run 'n' gun platformers, here's a game worth checking out. Dyna Gear features some superb graphics and animation, plus a pretty cool co-op mode where one player controls a barrel-chested wolf creature. I'd never heard of the game before, but having played it, I was really quite impressed.

In terms of story, you play some guy stranded on an alien world, looking for some means of escape. The land is full of prehistoric creatures and dinosaurs, many hostile, although you'll find assistance in the form a tribe of friendly wolfmen and their dino pets.

The game feels and plays much like Ghouls 'n Ghosts on steroids, maybe with a bit of The Astyanax thrown in for good measure. It's pretty hardcore in the later levels, but with visuals like this, Dyna Gear must have been a real draw when it was rolled out on the arcade floor. It's incredibly fast-paced and exciting, something that, unfortunately, drops off about halfway through the game, but it's still good fun.
