George Cummings, Ray Sawyer and Billy Francis first worked together for a failed band called "The Chocolate Papers". Cummings and Sawyer then moved to New Jersey and added bassist Dennis Locorriere and then brought Francis back into the fold as a keyboardist. After a succession of drummers before Jay David took over the sticks in 1968. They were fortunate enough to be the band selected to perform some Shel Silverstein penned tunes for a movie called "Who Is Harry Kellerman and Why Is He Saying Those Terrible Things About Me?" in 1970 that got them a recording contract with Columbia Records. Shel was a poet and published a child's book in the 60's called "The Giving Tree" that touched me so much I felt cheap. Well, he wrote a song "On The Cover Of The Rolling Stone" that the band recorded and it actually led to their making the cover of that news rock goliath. After a streak of hit singles throughout the 70's, they released their final album of that decade, "Sometimes You Win" that contained "When You're In Love With A Beautiful Woman" and "Sexy Eyes". The original version is 3:30 and this remix uses only that version since there was never an extended version. Stuck on 1979 again!
