Bill Lyerly began his musical career at age eleven after first hearing the blues/rock influenced music of the British Invasion. Lyerly played with bands throughout middle school, high school and college and in 1975 co-founded "Super Grit Cowboy Band", known as the South´s hottest honky tonkers.

In 1980 Bill Lyerly signed with RCA Nashville and began writing, recording albums and CDs, which include: Prodigal Son, Higher Ground, From The Old School, Railroad Station Blues, Cobalt Blues, Motel Room Blues, Requiem Mess, The Twang Years and Too Hurt To Cry. From 1999-2000 Lyerly was nominated for five CAMMYs, an East Coast rhythm and blues award, and won Best New Artist in 2000.

America's rock rebel Bill Lyerly has a fascination with Europe that follows the tradition of two famous blues-men with whom he has performed. Both John Lee Hooker and Bo Diddley found a great echo in the Old World for their music, a scenario which has also led Bill Lyerly to establish himself in the Basque Country. His music is aired on AM, FM, satellite and internet radio stations across the United States as well as in numerous European cities such as Paris, London, Barcelona and Bilbao.

Bill Lyerly's music evolved into a new sound, fusing Chicago Blues (Muddy Waters), Texas Blues (Freddie King) and British Blues Rock (early Eric Clapton). It was served up dense, dirty and scorching hot as Lyerly referred to as "Napalm Blues".

Lyerly's black book is full of inked out names, musician friends who followed the cocaine trail to their deaths or jail cells. Talented players who couldn't take the pressure of gigging night after night with little sleep and lots of alcohol. "It's a hard life", comments Lyerly, "whether or not you ride from city to city on a Prevost or whether you hit the stage in your own area". Bill Lyerly survived and feels his music sums up all he has lived. Lyerly's songwriting rocks, it throws hard punches, then it soothes you during bad times.
