One of the main Brazilian rap and hip hop groups, Racionais MC's appeared in the outskirts of São Paulo in the 80's, introducing a political speech in favor of the outcast population from big Brazilian cities. In 1988, they made their first recording, which was included in the compilation entitled "Consciência Black". Two years later, the group recorded their first solo album, "Holocausto Urbano".
